They are the Bad Boys of Brazos Bend—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Callahan.

New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Emily March invites readers to travel from Eternity Springs to Brazos Bend, the small hometown of the Callahan brothers snuggled deep in the heart of Texas.

DEA agent Luke Callahan has suffered one loss too many and a fishing trip with his brothers is just what his broken spirit needs to heal. What he doesn’t need is a gorgeous stowaway harboring secrets and running from killers. Never mind that he does his best work undercover…

Maddie Kincaid is accustomed to trouble, but she’d hoped to leave it behind when she settled in peaceful Brazos Bend. Who would have guessed that helping a gentle old man would land her in the middle of an attempted murder—her own? Now she’s running for her life—straight into the arms of the infamous Luke Callahan.

Lucky for her, he’s deadlier than the men chasing her. Unfortunately for him, protecting her means breaking a vow he holds dear. When the nights heat up and the secrets start to spill, Luke faces a brand new danger—losing the woman he loves. What’s a mad, bad, and lethal Callahan man gonna do?

While this is a good read it should not be listed as a new book. It is reprint of "give him the slip", same author using pseudonym to sell more books without writing a brand new story. I don't think that's fair to the reader.

What happens when two independent people find that sparks fly whenever they're together, and though they both have secrets, they find that they do need each other for life and for love?

Luke, and his brothers, Matt, Mark, and John were know as the "bad boys" of Brazos Bend when they were teen agers.  Now, John's murder caused the others to become estranged from their wealthy Dad.  They have all become responsible adults, working in different government agencies.  For Luke, he's just resigned as a DEA agent after the tragic loss of his partner.  He's going off on his large boat for a fishing trip when an unexpected guests shows up asleep in his guest room.

Maggie Kincaid was that "sleeping beauty".  She's been living a quiet peaceful life in Brazos Bend, running her business, Home For Now, helping old and infirm people remain in their homes.  She has her own notorious and secret past and she's unwittingly gotten herself in deep trouble.  She needs Luke's help but he wants no part in more investigations. The problem is that just looking at Maggie is like being drawn to a magnet.  Sometimes they stick like magnets, but they also find themselves pushed apart like magnets in reverse polarity.  But Maggie's life may just depend upon Luke's help.

This is a roller coaster ride of a romantic mystery.  The characters are complicated but so endearing.  I soon became very involved with Luke and Maggie, finding myself crying for them one minute and yelling at then another minute.  The mystery came with lots of clues but I was guessing until the very satisfying surprise ending.  I was left wanting more!!  Luckily, Emily March will soon have two books coming out continuing the stories of Matt and Mark.

If you love Emily March's Eternity Springs series you have to check out her Brazos Bend books. LUKE CALLAHAN has action, humor (there were times I was laughing out loud), and still tells a heartwarming love story that is classic Emily March. A really great read!

This story keeps you intrigued from beginning to end and I found it hard to put down. The storyline is exciting and moves along nicely. There is plenty of suspense and sexual chemistry as Luke tries to solve the mystery and save Maddie's life. Childhood grudges, guilt, murder and forgiveness, help propel the story forward. Exceptional read that you do not want to miss out on.

Though I am not normally drawn to read romance, I decided to broaden my horizons. I can indeed say, that I thoroughly enjoyed this authors writing style. She clearly takes her readers deep into her characters and the scenes. Her choice of wording and structure had me excited at the depth she gave Maddie and Luke, as well as the tricky dynamics of their developing relationship. The imagery alone tickled my fancy as I like to be enticed and ensnared and gobbled up in with what I read. This book clearly accomplished that. Kudos for the brilliant journey this book takes you on. I only gave it 4 stars because of the romance theme alone.

I received this book for free under the agreement of posting an honest review here and other places.  Let me say first, my introduction to Emily March was with the Eternity Springs series and I have since started reading some of the older titles and those published under her pseudonyms.

I really enjoyed this book.  Even if it took me longer to read because of my schedule.  It makes me want to go back and read the first Eternity Springs book as well (I won't give away anything here about why).  The interaction between the Luke and Maddie was wonderful as well as the mystery incorporated. I can't wait to read the next brother's story!

If you have read "Give Him The Slip" by Geralyn Dawson

If you have read "Give Him The Slip" by Geralyn Dawson, then you have already experienced this delightful adventure. Emily March and Geralyn Dawson are one in the same and this is an updated and tweaked version. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a small town adventure filled with family, friends, nosy neighbors, treasured pets and -of course- love. Normally, I know exactly what is going to happen during a story. This time Emily gave ME to slip tho! A huge part of the novel is a mystery (no spoilers!) and I was rivoted until the end. Yes, I figured out the bad guy before she clued us in.. but not nearly as quick as I normally do! (Sparkle caught me off guard! *pout*)

Emily March' s book "Luke" was a delight. The mystery kept me wondering until the end. Luke is such a lovable man, you can tell he will always be the white night for Maddie. Maddies tragic childhood as a rock idols daughter, Baby Dagger makes you glad that she still has love and a since of humor. Every time I thought the mystery was solved it wound a new twist again but Luke is determined to see Maddie safe. I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the Callahan boys. Emily March has a hit!

Yet another great read from Emily March. Luke and Maddie, a strange combination, that only gets stranger as the story unfolds. Maddie gets into a bit of a pickle, Luke gets involved and it simply goes from there. One thing after another. Fun, wit, confusion, and more. Have a great time in Brazos Bend!!

Emily March, author ... what more can be said. She is one of my special favorite authors ... and I just finished reading her newly released book, "Luke ... The Callahan Brothers" ... originally titled "Give Him the Slip" written under the pen name of Geralyn Dawson in 2006. This story speaks about the Callahan brothers, Matt, Mark, Luke and John of Brazos Bend, Texas ...This first book is about Luke. I was hooked on this author before and now can't wait to read the rest of this series ... What a story ... It's a romance, it's a mystery ... and ... it keeps you on pins and needles as you try to figure out how it will end. There are many twists and turns about who the true villain is and he/she is jot revealed until near the very end. I most enjoyed the realization of both Luke and Maddie of what love is and how to take the risk of loving and sharing their lives together ... I look forward to the next book to be released in this series, Matt's story ... These stories are part of the background for her "Eternity Springs" series written many years later.
