Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Patricia Timbrook
Luke is surprised when he sees a real lion at the edge of the woods. At first, Luke denies the lion's existence. Then, the denial turns into fear and he stays inside all day. At night Luke's fear worsens when he wonders, "Will the lion come inside, too?" Aunt Molly assures, "Lions don't come into houses, unless you invite them in." Luke faces his lion in his mind and decides to get it back home. The oblong, dual-framed illustrations represent Luke's "caged-fear" well; and the soft, dream-like symbolic compositions illumine the dimensions to this many-leveled picture book about conquering childhood fear.
