The wind howled like a lonely animal over the dry, empty plains, its only company dust, a few sparse, dead grasses, and dried-up stumps and sticks where there once was a green forest. Flattening the few grass fronds with a powerful blow, the wind circled back up and raced back around in a southerly direction, leaving only desolate stillness. Judging by the infertile land, nobody knew that, successfully escaping the harsh winds and chemical rains, a community of people lived under the dry, sandy soil. And right then, a baby girl was having the most important operation of her life:<p>
