Children's Literature - Charles E. Kreinbucher
A ladybug named Lulu is celebrating a birthday. She and her mother invite some friends over to the house for a party. Together, the bug friends have a ball. They skateboard, play instruments, and play games like hide-and-seek. A sudden rainstorm intrudes upon their fun, but just when it seems the party may be a wash out, the friends find new ways to have fun. They sail the wind with flowers as their gliders. They parachute, water ski in puddles and mud, and meet some new friends to play with—the earthworms. When the rain stops, each bug friend tries to ride a lemon down a hill; the resulting great splash becomes a lemonade treat. This story is one of a series in which the intention is to create an interactive reading experience for parents and children. The story is written in a four-line verse, and each alternating page ends with a large, bold word. With a rhyming pattern and beautiful supporting pictures, this predictable story is easy to read and sure to engage the reader. Reviewer: Charles E. Kreinbucher
