A future that's out of this world.

A seduction that's out of control.

Wealthy, reclusive celebrity, Shara Weston, hides from her countless fans on a private asteroid in Earth's orbit, but that doesn't stop captivating alien Cade Archer from crash-landing into her life.

Cade's on a mission to free his people from cruel enslavement by opening a portal from his planet to Earth, but a powerful enemy has followed him, hell-bent on stopping Cade at any cost. While Cade's plan sounds noble, Shara can't help but worry that an untested passage between his planet and hers could lead to the destruction of everything she's ever known or loved.

Alone amid the stars, the attraction between them explodes. Shara must follow Cade down a sensual path of sweet domination . . . a path that frightens her . . . a path that pleases her . . . a path that could risk the lives of every man, woman, and child on two worlds.

Will she surrender to Cade's intentions, or will his quest for freedom destroy them both?

The first book in the Heat Series is an action packed futuristic romance with a sexy visitor from another universe.
Hiding from her countless fans on her private asteroid in Earth’s orbit, Shara Weston life is interrupted when a captivating alien crash lands on her asteroid. Cade Archer is on a mission to free his people from cruel enslavement by opening a portal from his planet to Earth. But a powerful enemy has followed hell bent on stopping him and sends Shara and Cade on the run. Shara has misgivings about Cade’s mission, but as they embark on Cade’s quest, the passion between them explodes.
This fast paced plot takes the reader on fantastic futuristic tale that keeps the reader on their toes as the danger escalates and the passion erupts.  The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery, suspense and strong enchanting characters that grab the reader’s attention and doesn’t let go.
The chemistry between the Shara and Cade is out of this world hot and the well written sex scenes are hot and steamy and sexy alien powers adds in some sizzling spice.  The author conveys all the emotions, passion and personalities of all the characters with intensity and ensures that the reader can easily relate to them and understand the motivations behind their actions.
The author has created a wonderful futuristic earth that captures the reader’s imagination and has not only great main characters but supporting characters as well. The mind boggles at some of the possibilities at where the author can take this series.
I found that I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.  I really enjoyed that the author not only brought aliens to earth she set the story way into Earth’s future, but doesn’t make things so out of the realm of possibility that the reader gets too caught up trying to figure out what’s what. I also like that the hero and heroine both had complex personalities that kept me guessing just what they might do next.

I'm almost positive I've read part of this book, if not all of this book previously. It's increasingly possible, given this is a re-publication of an earlier Kearney release, but that's okay. I was drawn into this book and couldn't put it down more than I absolutely had to.

This book takes place somewhere in the future - quite a bit in the future, given we've got colonies on the moon, Mars, and Jupiter's moons, and can terraform asteroids. But that simply adds to the fun for me in this book. I'm definitely developing a taste for sci-fi romance.

Shara's an former holovid star who's moved to an asteroid she purchased called Haven, which provides her a, er, haven from the paparazzi. She's quite happy living there all alone until Cade literally falls out of the sky into her terraformed lake (which has any number of fish and life brought up from Earth). Initially, she just wants to get rid of the man, but then she remembers a vision her best friend Jules had about a man falling from the sky and a potential threat to Earth.

Cade's come to Earth to hopefully buy Shara's asteroid (didn't know she owned it), because it is a source of the mineral that will help open a portal to his homeworld to allow him to ship salt through so that the underclass (called underfirsts) can have enough salt to grow strong enough to overthrow the wicked Firsts who keep them continual slavery.

There is immediately heat between these two, but a definite sense of conflict, both internal and external to keep them apart. Cade's focused solely on his mission and finds himself being distracted by Shara. Shara's secretly trying to find a way to stop Cade because of her friend's vision which showed Cade's mission destroying Earth. The villain, Cade's brother Jamar, is a nasty piece of work and I despised him for both his outlook on the underfirsts and his despicable treatment of everyone he comes in contact with. And yet ... I found him utterly believable as a person. I mean, the old saying "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" definitely applied here.

It was a heart-stopping ride throughout the book and I loved how everything finally resolved in the end. There was also a teaser for the second book in the series, Solar Heat, and I really want to read that now.

I guess it's confirmed. I'm a die-hard Kearney fan and hope some day to write like she does. Well, not like her, but be as awesome as she is.

Thanks for letting me read this!Book provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher because of a contest at Writerspace.
This book was a fast paced future romanctic suspense story. Susan did a great job of keeping me glued to my Kindle to see what would happen next. Shara and Cade were well matched as a couple and they grew into stronger characters as the story moved along. Jules was a truly outstanding support character for Shara. I enjoyed the fact that she actually got her own love story, too. I look forward to the second book in this series by Susan Kearney.
