Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Raina Sedore
Why do we always seem to look the worst on days when we have to have our photos taken? Lunch Lady is on the case! When the school library is turned into a temporary photography studio, it seems that all the kids spontaneously break out in zits! Lunch Lady and her assistant, along with kids Hector, Terrence, and Dee, find themselves in the middle of a high stakes con. The ensuing adventure takes them out of the school and ultimately all the way to the downtown fashion district. Krosoczka's popular graphic novel series has reached its eighth volume and is still going strong. The yellow, black and white illustrations are fun and communicate the story effectively, using a wide variety of page layouts and snappy, engaging dialogue. The Lunch Lady is a hero in the mold of James Bond, ever-surprising us with new gadgets (this volume features the use of a "chicken nugget bomb") and martial arts moves. This is a sparkling series for every elementary-aged graphic novel fan. Reviewer: Raina Sedore
