Reviewer: Sandra Joy Peacock, RN, BSN, MBA (University of New Mexico Cancer Center)
Description: This comprehensive book takes a multidisciplinary approach to the recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and care of lung cancer patients.
Purpose: The book is needed, covering everything from an introduction to lung cancer to end-of-life issues.
Audience: The audience includes RNs as well as other healthcare professionals. The editor (and author of two of the chapters) is the lead oncology nurse at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.
Features: Chapters are nicely laid out and contain key points, an introduction, summary, and references. Each chapter is written by different authors. The book details the results of numerous clinical trials that have been done worldwide. Numerous tables, graphs, and illustrations appear throughout the book. References are plentiful, but some are over 10 years old.
Assessment: This well-written book can be quite useful as a resource for RNs and other healthcare professionals caring for lung cancer patients.
