Overview

Aaron Jones began writing poetry in the late 1980s. He was inspired by his brother Eddie's band, Southern Acoustic, to compose his poems in the form of songs so they could be easily adapted to music. Aaron's series of poetry collections is entitled Lyrics in Search of Music due the fact that Eddie could not write music to words already written.

Aaron's poetry covers a wide range of topics, from the ups and downs of love to taking one step at a time to get one's life back on track. He has created his poetry collection with the hope that at least one poem may have life breathed into it through the pairing of his lyrics with the right music. Each poem a lyrical feast waiting to be launched by the perfect melody.

"A unique journey towards mankind's constant search for hope. It closely mirrors emotions that everyone experiences and can easily relate to .... The elements of great music lie within these pages waiting to be discovered!"

CHAPTER 1

    I Love You

Got to get a message on through
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Got to get a message straight to you
If you don't like it, you can tell me adieu

Got to tell it to your broken heart
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Should have told you from the start
If you don't like it, you can tell me we're through

Got to get a message to your tattered soul
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Need to tell you before it takes a toll
    I don't know why, I Love You

Got to get a message on through
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Got to get a message straight to you
If you don't like it, you can tell me adieu

Got to tell it to your broken heart
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Should have told you from the start
If you don't like it, you can tell me we're through

Got to get a message to your tattered soul
I don't know why, but I know that I do
Need to tell you before it takes a toll
    I don't know why, I Love You

    Lies and Truths

A lie is a lie no matter how you say it
The truth is the truth; that's how you should play it
A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it
The truth is the truth, no matter how you weigh it

    What's the point of lying?
    You'll only end up crying
We never get away with it
You'll only get deeper in it
You know the truth shall set you free
No matter how you slice it from A to Z
The truth you can always trust
Even after you have turned to dust
A lie is a lie no matter how you say it
The truth is the truth; that's how you should play it
A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it
The truth is the truth, no matter how you weigh it

One lie always leads to another
Your soul it starts to smother
A lie will lead you astray
In the end we all have to pay
    Truth, you can't go wrong
Truth, helped me write this song
Truth is the only way to go
This is something everyone should know
    (Repeat Chorus)

    What Lies Beneath?

Every day it seems I am bracing for impact
Sifting through the lies amongst the facts
Every day I feel I'm about to crash-land
I get knocked down every time I make a stand
Everywhere that I step forms a massive sinkhole
This life, on me, it has begun to take its toll

Despite the fact that it's hard to find my way
I can't help but to fight back each and everyday

I need to find the joy in all the little things
Need to take comfort in the hope that tomorrow brings
Have to sing my song, even though I can't sing
Not everyone is lucky enough to be born, to be born a king

I know I am not the only one to feel like this
Trying to resurface from this cold and lonely abyss
It seems I take one step forward but ten steps back
I'm just trying to survive from life's relentless attack
You think in my life, I could get just one thing right
Waiting for the day that I can return to the light

I hope and pray on my knees each and every day
Lord, help me to find my way to you, find my way

I need to find the joy in all the little things
Need to take comfort in the hope that tomorrow brings
Have to sing my song, even though I can't sing
Not everyone is lucky enough to be born, to be born a king

Have I said enough, have I said too much?
Your heart and your soul I hoped to touch
    (Repeat Chorus)
I need to find the joy in all the little things

    Here We Go Again

    Night and day
    Day and night
    We fight and fight
Trying, just trying to get this right
    You and me
    Me and you
    Searching for the new
Looking for the next best thing to get us through

    Love and hate
    Hate and love
    Finding the meaning of
In the end we either go below or up above

    Find a way
    Looking for
    Who's behind the door?
Always wanting more and more, and more

    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Wanting the sun, not rain
    Here we go
    Here we go again

    White and black
    Black and white
    Together we'll win the fight
It just takes some time to get this right

    Out and in
    In and out
    We all have some doubt
When we're finding out what we're all about

    Old is new
    New is old
What was mine will be sold
This world is such a sight to behold

    Looking for
    Find a way
    Looking for a better day
Do you get what I'm trying to say?

    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Wanting the sun not rain

    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Here we go
    Here we go again
    Here we go
    Here we go again

Night and day, Day and night, You and me, Me and you, Love and hate,
Hate and love, White and black, Black and white, Out and in, In and
out, Old is new, New is old,
When I'm gone what was mine will be sold
This world that He created is such a sight to behold
    (Repeat Chorus)

    I Think

    I think it's funny
How the last person you truly loved
Is usually the last person you truly hate
We learn these things a little bit too late
After we're crushed by the hands of fate
    I think
    I think

    I think it's funny
How you think you love someone
But do you really ever know for sure?
One day you're together, the next shown the door
But we still try to come back for more and more
    I think
    I think

    I think it's funny
How we let a grain of sand turn into a mountain
Life is hard enough as it is anyway
Today may be your very last, your very last day
What more do I have to say, to say, to say
    I think
    I think

    I think it's funny
How the last person you truly loved
Is usually the last person you truly hate
We learn these things a little bit too late
After we're crushed by the hands of fate
    I think
    I think
    I think it's funny
    I think?

    No Turning Back

You have tried to knock me out
Tried to fill my head full of doubt
Said that I'm good for naught
In my head you thought I haven't a thought
Well it's alright by me, you see
Because with you I don't agree
No more living under your thumb
Sorry for you, I like the person I have become
    Because, I'm back on track
    You know that's a fact
Ain't no, ain't no turning back
    No, no turning back
    I'm back, back on track

I have better things to do
Then to fight a war with you
Don't want to waste a second trying
Not going to spend another second crying
Life is way too short, you know my love
One day I hope you find the meaning of
Sorry, but you have to find someone else to put down
    Because I won't, yes I won't, no I won't be around
    Because, I'm back on track
    You know that's a fact
Ain't no, ain't no turning back
    No, no turning back
    I'm back, back on track

Now I'm dazed and confused no more
Time to pull this ship into the shore
You have no more power over my soul
Taking back from which you have stole
Time to start to build me up once again
It's time for my heart, my soul to start to mend
There's too much in this world I want to do
So sorry, but I don't want to do them, to do them with you
    Because, I'm back on track
    You know that's a fact
Ain't no, ain't no turning back
    No, no turning back
    I'm back, back on track
    From this day forth
You go south, I'm going north
Ain't no, ain't no turning back
    I'm back, back on track

There's too much in this world I want to do
So sorry, but I don't want to do them, to do them with you

This Is How You Make Me Feel

This is how you make me feel

You're putting the nails in my coffin
And I am not even dead yet

How can you do these things to me?
When we haven't even met yet
Do you want to break me down?
See me six feet in the grown
Then you can take everything when I'm not around

I put my faith in you to lead
All you do is make my heart bleed
I put my faith in you no more
When you kill the dreams I'm fighting for
You turned my dream into a nightmare
If this happened to you, would you think it was fair?

This is how you make me feel

I'm just a guy trying to make my way
I hope someday we can live as one
Trying to live my life in peace
But it's hard when you have stolen the sun

You have taken my life, made it unreal
You make the rules, but I have to deal
I hope you never feel the way I feel

I put my faith in you to lead
All you do is make my heart bleed
I put my faith in you no more
When you kill the dreams I'm fighting for
You turned my life into a nightmare
If this happened to you, would you think it was fair?

This is how you make me feel

You can't fix the damage you've done
Hopefully the next person we pick to serve
Hopefully they will be the one

    (Repeat Chorus)
This is how you make me feel
