Overview

In the midst of a zombie apocalypse, it takes a movie star to do the impossible.

Which is exactly what Mike McKnight will have to do to survive.

The dead have risen. A lethal virus has decimated millions, turning the infected into the walking dead.

Society has crumbled, cities are in flames, and the human race is on the verge of extinction.

Somehow, Mike has survived. So far. From his cell in a mental institution, he battled the ghosts of his past and throngs of undead to uncover and retrieve the last vestige of mankind's hope to fight the deadly plague.

Now, from the deck of an aircraft carrier, to the farmlands of the Eastern Shore and the very heart of the nation's capital, this former action movie star carries the hope of an entire race. With him rests the only chance at fighting the spread of the virus, and turning back the tide of infection.

But the undead are changing. They are evolving. Hunting in larger groups and banding together to track their prey, they are more dangerous predators than ever before. To survive, he will have to learn to adapt, and to come to grips with the most important evolution of all: his own.

Meet the Author

I'm not what or who you think. Well, unless you're particularly astute. Or have been spying on me. In the case of the latter, cut it out. It's creepy.

My writing is a symptom of a medical condition: if I don't get the stories out of my head, the skull might actually explode. It's rare, but I think I am managing the condition fairly well.

I enjoy writing for the same reason we all enjoy reading. Escape. Escape from a normal world; escape from the 24 hour news cycle; from bills and deadlines; from traffic and noise. I sink into a little void of creativity and enjoy the ride. But why apocalyptic stuff? Why zombies?

They're fun to read about, they're fun to watch, and they're really fun to write. Why?

Because they put a scary and sometimes amusing face on everyday humans; they take the grocery store clerk, the lawyer and the gas station attendant and they lump them all into the same mold: the mindless, hungry carnivore.

In truth, it's the great equalizer, the zombie novel/movie/comic; it takes a variety of people from a variety of places and turns our oh-too-class-segmented society on its head. Rich, poor, smart, stupid, fat, skinny...they're all the same. We're left with only two classes: the undead, and the soon to be undead trying to postpone what many portray as the inevitable for as long as possible.

Maybe it's that sense of inevitable and crushingly painful defeat that's at the heart of these things-the sense that no matter what you do, where you go, or who you go there with, you're all gonna be zombie food at the end of the day. Makes for a compelling journey and provides the author with a great, clean template to work from.

If you like my work, shoot me an email at ! If you don't like my stuff, you can still email me, but I will send back videos with wrestling kittens and a sleeping monkey, snoring. Fair warning.

You can also check out my blog or "friend" me on Facebook, in the rare event I have anything interesting to say. Did you know that's a verb now, "friending"? Yeah, news to me too. But I'll figure out these interwebs sometime soon.

This book pummeled me with morbidity, delicious sarcasm and gruesome imagery, that I just can't get enough of. Michael McKnight is a brilliant character adding hilarity to the mixture of gore, and human struggles. This book is well written, entertaining and leaves you with an insatiable need for more... Good thing there's a sequel coming out! If you're like me and crave escape from the mind numbing everyday same ole and get it through zombie induced adrenaline spikes then pick this book up immediately you will not be disappointed!

AWSOME BOOK!! FROM THE START TO THE END JUST AWESOME!! IT DESERVES MORE STARS THAN WHAT I CAN GIVE IT. IT IS YOUR NORMAL, MINDLESS, HUNGRY ZOMBIE NOVEL. NO WIERD CRAP. NO SUPER HUMAN ZOMBIE, NO WEREWOLF ZOMBIE, NO SMART ZOMBIES. I HAVE READ THE SYNOPSIS OF THIS BOOK MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT ALWAYS PASSED IT UP, JUST DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD. FINALLY WENT AHEAD AND GOT IT, AND WOW!!!!! DEFINATELY WILL READ THIS ONE AGAIN. YOU REALLY GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH WITH THIS ONE!!! A MUST READ FOR THE HARDCORE ZOMBIE FREAK!!!!

Great story and fun read! And none of those annoying typos that a lot of these books tend to have. Great job Bryan!

This was a good story with good characters. The main character's running banter with his inner voices was very annoying and detracted from the story. But aside from a few wildly unbelievable action scenes, it was a fun read. I don't know if I'll read the others in the series.

It was a good read but the end leaves you hanging. There is the first chapter of the next book at the end but the whole book is not available yet which is kind of a bummer.

This fast paced zombie tale mixes humor and horror seamlessly. I have read and re-read the first two in the series and am thrilled that the third finally is here. If you like post-apocolyptic fiction, this is a must read.

This was a good book well edited. I liked the twist of having an action hero movie star as the lead character. If you like Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallou series you'll like this series as well.

I feel the character development (and sometime abrupt dismissal) was wonderfully crafted, adding to the uncertainity and fraility of life in such times, enriching the story instead of taking away from it. The developmemt of the main character was also quite pleasing and honest. The story itself was nonstop action, making it impossible to put down and I finished it in one day! I second the sentiment that there were very few typos or grammatical errors and deeply appreciate that from Mr. James! You have a new lifelong fan, thanks for sharing the story.
