    Very mixed feelings about this.

Well, if you are just looking for an audio version of the play, then it's an excellent version. But, the way the CD's are set up are totally unsatisfactory. I am a teacher, and I always find it helpful to bring recorded versions of plays in whenever possible. However, there is only one track for each of the acts. Unlike a regular CD which has many tracks you can get to quickly, you have to play the WHOLE act at one time. I found that a real drawback. You can fast forward it, unlike other CD's but I thought it would have been better if the various scenes within the acts had been broken up into DVD-like chapters. Also, I had just seen the recent broadway production and expected this to be with Whoopi Goldberg, but it was an old version of the play. The actress playing Ma Rainey was good, but I was expecting someone else, so... I don't know if I would buy this if I were you.
