Pocket Guide gets to the nuts and bolts

This pocket guide to Mac OS X Snow Leopard was a very useful tool for me as a Windows Vista user making the transition to a new computing platform. However, as the author explained, it isn't intended to explore the depths of the OS. What the book lacked, I filled in with my own knowledge from a few years working in IT, especially with regards to operating a Mac computer in a mixed OS networking environment.

    more from this reviewer

    A wonderful quick reference

This little book is a terrific introduction to Snow Leopard. I recently upgraded my Mac and didn't want to plunk down the big bucks for the giant manuals that are often difficult to read and understand for a beginner who just wants to be a good user of the program. It tells what the upgrade enhances, what stayed the same and how to make everything work together, both in installation and in use. It's small and handy, and easy to look things up. The explanations are concise, but complete enough to get going. I carry it with my computer, and it doesn't weigh more than the computer itself (which most of the other manuals do!)

This compact pocket sized book is always within easy reach of my computer. It is handy and informative.

It was one of the first Snow Leopard books that I bought. It doesn't have all the information of the larger books, but it works very well for quick help for many questions and problems. It saves space on my desk and is within easy access when I do have questions or problems. If it doesn't have the answers, then I will use my more detailed books.

Nice summary of Snow Leopard new features

A quick read for a good summary of changes to the MAC OS X most recent operating system update. Mostly focused on the user interface and standard utilities.
