Tony Thorne's "Macabre Tales" is an eclectic collection of short stories. I don't usually read from this genre, but to me it felt like Edgar Allen Poe. Very interesting little tales that make you think about things. My favorite tale is "Micro-Voices" which involves a character like the host of "Unsolved Mysteries." Thorne just has a way of turning things on their head. A great quick read that stays with you.

This is the first Tony Thorne book I’ve read and I truly appreciate his efforts. Macabre Tales is a collection of 18 short stories that are absolutely intriguing. The book captivated me till the end and I just could not put it down before I finished reading it . Thorne’s write up with a mix of humor , wits and imagination - totally made this book an enjoyable read.. The Award winning author of Tenerife Tales Trilogy has put together some really entertaining small tales like Shape Shift , Demonstration ,Euthanasia , Potting Plot etc… I like all of them but I specially enjoyed reading the stories ‘Demonstration’ and ‘Washed Out’ . Totally out of the box thinking . A couple who set up a girl- Janet for freeing a trapped demon to fulfill their wish ; was in the end turned in to ashes after Janet got her own wish fulfilled by the demon . Fiction but with a dash of humor and suspense !! Truly entertaining collection of short stories. This one definitely deserves 4 ****. I will be looking forward to buying and reading more of Thorne’s books now.

Depicting paranormal activities Macabre Tales is a collection of 18 short stories of varied unnatural themes. Vividly reflective, they would capture any readers' undivided attention, as Tony Thorne pursues them one after another. Implant of a bee like artificial intelligence in one the stories, misunderstood as a nasty tumor, actually turns out to be a guardian angel. All stories likewise are knitted seamlessly into such fascinatingly disturbing tales pushing the boundaries of both reality and imagination. The horrific story of a clay African idol changing into a moving, communicative, "alter ego" kind of  "thing",is not a case of hallucination; something that defies logical explanation. Each story delves deeper into holographic phenomena. Ones that can only be visible by a 'third' eye of this very gifted writer, far beyond what we could ever sense.

I really liked the characters, the plot and the author's writing style in Macabre Tales. While reading each story I was able to see a mental movie in my imagination about what happened with the characters and each of such movies was really interesting. I liked that each story had a captivating idea behind it and had many interesting twists. I liked this collection of tales and can certainly recommend it.
