The Author - Tony originally qualified as a professional Chartered Design Engineer, and built up a research and development company in Kent, England, specializing in such unusually varied projects as 30000C carbon processing furnaces, liquefied helium gas pipelines, nuclear protection equipment and low temperature surgery instrumentation. The latter and its worldwide commercial success led to him being awarded an MBE by the Queen. Based first in Switzerland, and later in the Channel Island of Guernsey, he built up a group of related marketing and manufacturing companies and agencies, all across Europe.

Now retired and living with his Viennese wife, partly in Austria and also in the Spanish Canary Island of Tenerife, he is writing mostly science fiction and macabre stories available in various collections (eBooks and Paperbacks) including three volumes of TENERIFE TALL TALES, FUTURE REASSURED, FUTURE UNCERTAIN, MACABRE TALES and TALL SF TALES FOR TEENS, all available via the Internet and various outlets, including AMAZON, BARNES & NOBLE etc. He has also just completed his first quirky SF action novel, POINTS OF VIEW, aimed at the fast growing Young Adults market.

I always prefer short stories collection as I can select which stories do I want to read first. Macabre Tales is a collection of 18 short stories which I ended up reading all.
I love a book that capture your attention and keeps you captive and this book has succeeded in doing that.
The author, Tony Thorne MBE , writes in a clear and concise manner and that makes this book very easy to read.

Strongly recommended for all short stories lovers.

Depicting paranormal activities Macabre Tales is a collection of 18 short stories of varied unnatural themes. Vividly reflective, they would capture any readers' undivided attention, as Tony Thorne pursues them one after another. Implant of a bee like artificial intelligence in one the stories, misunderstood as a nasty tumor, actually turns out to be a guardian angel. All stories likewise are knitted seamlessly into such fascinatingly disturbing tales pushing the boundaries of both reality and imagination. The horrific story of a clay African idol changing into a moving, communicative, "alter ego" kind of  "thing",is not a case of hallucination; something that defies logical explanation. Each story delves deeper into holographic phenomena. Ones that can only be visible by a 'third' eye of this very gifted writer, far beyond what we could ever sense.

I really liked the characters, the plot and the author's writing style in Macabre Tales. While reading each story I was able to see a mental movie in my imagination about what happened with the characters and each of such movies was really interesting. I liked that each story had a captivating idea behind it and had many interesting twists. I liked this collection of tales and can certainly recommend it.
