We used this book as a study guide for reading and teaching Macbeth. It proved to be very helpful with understanding all aspects Macbeth. It also gives a quiz at the end of the book. and instruction for writing your analytical  paper. We used it for 10th grade Literature as a teacher's guide..

I have a very strong personal aversion to 'No Fear Shakespeare' in general because what makes Shakespeare so great is not the basic plot of his stories (none of them are original) but the words that he uses and how he can convey extraordinary beauty in them. Frankly 'No Fear Shakespeare' sacrifices the language for the plot and that is backwards. However, as a starting point NFS has its advantages because it familiarizes a person with the plot allowing them to read the original text more fluidly and therefor giving the reader a better understanding of the play. This graphic novel is a good way to start children not yet in 7th or 8th grade on to Shakespeare because it is easy to understand and is illustrated (although I don't like how they chose to depict many of the characters). But you must keep in mind that this play is NOT Shakespeare. And if you are trying to read or teach Shakespeare this is not it. And any child in or above 8th grade should be able to decipher Shakespeare's original language (with some difficulty).

I bought this book for my son, hoping to steer him towards some literary classics. He normally will read most anything with a zombie or war related. It took him all of two hours to read this book and he loved it. We talked about the style of writing and what characters he liked or did not like. We have purchased two other "No Fear Shakespeare" books, which were devoured in an hour. I have also enjoyed reading the books myself. A must buy for anyone interested in the classics but is a little afraid.

I love the logic presented in this book of Macbeth as Oedipus...someone who cannot escape his fate. The maps describing the movements of the characters were really helpful, especially the castle floorplan on the night of Duncan's murder. It didn't include the text of the play, but I used No Fear Shakespeare for that. Symbols and Themes were very helpful for my essay.
