MAD for Decades: 50 Years of Forgettable Humor from MAD Magazine

Overview

In the embarrassing tradition of MAD About the Fifites, MAD About the Sixties, MAD About the Seventies, MAD About the Eighties, and MAD About the Nineties comes this inevitable and shameless repackaging of the absolutely worst stuff from all five books. MAD for Decades is a ridiculous look back at a ridiculous half century that you’re sure to find ridiculous—because it was and is. Ridiculous, we mean.

    Gave as a gift

My son is mad for MAD. I gave this book to him for Christmas and he read it all Christmas day and still rereads it to this day. It is a great collection of MAD and a great gift for a teenager. I do not find the silly humor appropriate for a younger child, but for an older teenager it is great. The price was excellent and my Barnes and Noble membership discount just made the book an even better buy. MAD magazine is always a fun read, and this book does not have any fold-ins or color ad parodies which are missed in this book. Still a great gift idea for under ten bucks.

    Mad Magazine Revisited

As one who grew up with the original Mad Magazine, being able to revisit the cartoons and features that I awaited anxiously every month was pure pleasure. This is a great read for those who have had a love affair with MAD Magazine. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Simply Awful. But fun none-the-less. What? What did you expect?

    Madtastic!

Great book for new fans and old ones. Mad more often than not delivers in its quest to entertain the reader. Reccomended!

    Nothing like being MAD

Great little book, it really takes me back to the days when these pages were new and people still knew how to laugh at themselves.

    MAD about MAD Decades

I enjoyed going back to my college days by reading MAD DECADES. The satire of the 80's were fun to read then, and to reflect on now. I loved the humor then and I think the humor would appeal to readers who have not grown up with MAD magazine. This is a must for the baby boomers.

    Okay?!

well, it is not a very good book to give to your kid but for a 18 or older friend. It is too gossipy and would be a great gift for some one.

    A reviewer

While MAD magazine is always a fun read, I found this particular compilation a bit disappointing since it does not include the Al Jaffee 'fold-ins' or color ad parodies that were quite common to the magazine in its heyday. Still a great gift idea for under ten bucks.
