Right from the opening paragraph, I was drawn in to this fun and interesting novel!  I don't generally read this genre, but I was instantly intrigued and read the whole book in 2 days.  Provost has created an interesting world, with bright, intelligent characters that have you cheering for them from the first few pages. Alyssa, the main character, is just your average teen, placed in an extraordinary situation. The pace of the book is delightful, and I can't wait to read the second book in the series!

Wow, what an awesome book.  I love zombie books, TV shows, and movies.  I have read A LOT of zombie books.  Most I will read and can put them down but Mad World:  Epidemic by Samaire Provost.  I couldn't put the book down, I finished it in a day and a half.  I even went to bed and read for awhile and I hadn't done that in years.  The book is about scientists find some still viable bone barrow in a mass grave of some Black plague victims and start experimenting on it, and that is when things go wrong.  What makes the book awesome to me?  It is set in California, ok cool, lots of books are, BUT, it is set in the Central Valley of California.  Where I grew up and am living now.  They are from Fresno, and the book describes streets in that city.  When they leave they are going down Highway 99, and they stop at an am/pm convenience store.   That am/pm? I have gone to several times.   That was just awesome to me, and I can not wait to read the second and third books.  The book is really well written and a really good read.  If you love zombie books, you should most definitely read this.

I loved the book, couldn't put it down, I. read it all in one sitting. It was very well paced and seemed longer then it's 100 pages, my one dislike is that it is very sad, however it is truly worth the money.

I enjoyed reading this first book. It was an easy read, more suited to young adults I feel, but thrilling and action packed nonetheless. I had a hard time connecting to some of the characters, but, the main character carried the group well. There were a few grammatical errors and a tiny bit of inconsistency. I really enjoyed the different take on how this spread, with the black plague. I haven't heard that one before. Overall I would definitely recommend this.

I read Mad World: Epidemic in just a few hours. It is definitely a page turner that I think is best suited for teenagers. But, don't get me wrong, I couldn't put the book down! Once I began reading it, I knew I had to know what happens next. I will definitely be reading the other two books in this trilogy. It would be very easy to make this book into a move. Kudos to the author for writing her first book.

Move over sparkly vampires!  The zombie apocalypse is upon us and no one is immune.   Samaire Provost brings the undead to life in her first novel and preys upon our darkest fears.  Thanks to a short-sighted decision by a group of scientists, a disease long thought extinct has been reawakened.  With no hope for a cure, it leaves them with no choice but to go on the run.   For a group of kids on a field trip, this is exactly what they face after returning home to find their families have been evacuated but have left no clues as to where they went.  Before they have a chance to fully digest their new reality, they come face to face with exactly what this plague is capable of.   Fast paced and action-packed, the first novel in the Mad World series will leave you wanting more.  As for me?  Tonight I’ll be sleeping with the lights on.

I read ever zombie book I can find and this one fits up there with better ones. I love the fact there is a strong female lead character!! If there is a YA in your life who enjoys thrillers/horror, highly recommend it. I'm 47 and am really looking forward to the next book. The ending on this one hooks you for the next in the series.  I especially enjoyed the new twist on how zombies start roaming the planet. Great thought process!  This is a great book for all ages. I wouldn't hesitate to allow my 10 year old daughter to read this series. I can see it making a good movie!!! It grabs you quick and is going to make you want to read on, so highly recommend you buy the entire trilogy BEFORE you start reading.

I volunteered to review this book and basically read it in one sitting (with a short break to make dinner I'll admit - mainly because my husband was starting to look like he'd eat me!). While this isn’t unusual for me, I am also not the kind of person who pushes through with a book if I’m not enjoying it. The first few lines of the book really piqued my interest. The introduction is always a good indicator of whether or not I’m going to enjoy a book. And I did. The twist on how the zombie apocalypse happened is an interesting take on it which I really enjoyed. It’s a light read, quick paced and you discover things along with the protagonist, going from one stressful situation to another, much as I imagine it would be in real life. If you are looking for an enjoyable read and enjoy the genre, then you should really give this book a try.

It was a predictable zombie story. I liked the dogs best. Had some issues with the consistency and editing. Easy read. Uninteresting.
