17th-century France will come alive as you read the brilliant letters Madame de Sevigne wrote to her beloved daughter Countess de Grignan. The author has captured the very essence of what life must have been like, a glimpse into royalty and life at court, and a fascinating look at a complex mother and daughter relationship that would give any modern day psychiatrist a gleeful treat. Very well researched biography and translation of Madame de Sevigne's extensive letter collection from its original French. If you like reading about history then this is a definite winner! Brilliant.
