I highly recommend this book. I bought it with some reservations because my last Madhur Jaffrey book was quite complicated - even thought the results were great - but I need lots of time to cook from it. This book does not have that problem - it is wonderful! the recipes are quick, easy and the results are great. Many of the recipes can be cooked in a pressure cooker but I don't have one and so I just use a regular pot and cook things for a little longer. She gives you this option. Most of the recipes call for throwing everything into a pot and cooking it. What is not to love about that during the week!
It includes simple recepies with good results.
As a total neophyte to Indian cooking, I was skeptical I could produce food that tasted remotely authentic, but this book made it easy. We've built a cookbook club session around it and my husband and I are marching through the recipes with great enjoyment.
If you enjoy Indian food, you must purchase this book. I discovered the delights of Indian cooking on a visit years ago to London. After repeatedly dining at Punjab (the oldest Indian restaurant in London), I asked for a cookbook recommendation and was told any book by Madhur Jaffrey. This is a great introduction to Indian food. You may have to stock up on spices but you'll find the recipes easy to prepare and the results tasty and enjoyable.
