From the Publisher
"

The title of Madhur Jaffrey's Quick & Easy Indian Cooking (Chronicle, $19.95), an invitation to fast, flavor-filled food from the subcontinent, is not an oxymoron. Most of the more than 70 recipes, from soups to sweets, can be made in 30 minutes or less and the luscious, full-page, full-color photos add to the appeal." &mdashBookpage, January, 2008

I highly recommend this book. I bought it with some reservations because my last Madhur Jaffrey book was quite complicated - even thought the results were great - but I need lots of time to cook from it. This book does not have that problem - it is wonderful! the recipes are quick, easy and the results are great. Many of the recipes can be cooked in a pressure cooker but I don't have one and so I just use a regular pot and cook things for a little longer. She gives you this option. Most of the recipes call for throwing everything into a pot and cooking it. What is not to love about that during the week!

As a total neophyte to Indian cooking, I was skeptical I could produce food that tasted remotely authentic, but this book made it easy. We've built a cookbook club session around it and my husband and I are marching through the recipes with great enjoyment.

If you enjoy Indian food, you must purchase this book. I discovered the delights of Indian cooking on a visit years ago to London. After repeatedly dining at Punjab (the oldest Indian restaurant in London), I asked for a cookbook recommendation and was told any book by Madhur Jaffrey. This is a great introduction to Indian food. You may have to stock up on spices but you'll find the recipes easy to prepare and the results tasty and enjoyable.
