The Madness of Art: Short Stories is a book about the beguiling demons and will-o'-the-wisps that motivate poeple to put themselves through harrowing ordeals for the sake of art.
In "Andrea's Boy Calvin," an author of children books decides to "revolutionize the genre,"--that is, unless his mother has something to say about it. In "What Irony," a painter of patriotic pastoral images takes it upon himself to bring an end to the Cold War, and absent-mindedly finds himself an accomplice to a murder. In "Little Crescents," a Vegas nite-club singer decides to become the world's next Beethoven, but, as he finds while vacationing in Maui, while he can change his career, he can't give up the ghosts of his old life.
In these tales and 5 others, humor, creativity, and strong storylines come together in ways you won't soon forget.
