Meet the Author

Thanks for all those who review, it is wonderful to hear from you and given your honest opinions really clarify how you feel about my books, and it is extremely appreciated. I have an announcement to make. Since authors are being taxed with something called the VAT tax, this means it will cost more to publish our books. So it is time I went up on my prices. Through the years I've always kept my prices low and offered freebies, but times are hard now for us all and I am just now catching up with other authors as to prices, so the 2.99 books will be 3.99. I've temporarily reduced the prices of books like Jodi's Journey, Always Remember, and my western thrillers, Better Off Without Her, Good Dary for a Hanging, and Bad Day for a Killing. Aside from that the book bundles will go up to 5.99. Right now Family Matters is still on sale at ITUNES and will continue to be for a while. Men of the Northwest is now available too..I hope our readers can bear with us while we face another fee we didn't expect. I've never had high prices on my books but I have to allow for this cut on our royalties to survive. I hope you will all understand, it is not our doing. I haven't changed the prices on my children's book yet. I want to see how much it is affected. If necessary I will go up on them, but not unless. Short stories will remain the same too, unless I see a real need for an increase. Just wanted you to know. Thanks for your understanding. If it's children's books you are interested in, try the Willy Series or Doggie Heroes. I just finished Tanker, the Defender. I change my covers off an on. If there is an old cover you prefer let me know by writing me at ritahestand@gmail.com. I did go back to one of my earlier versions of Runaway Bride, it just seemed to fit better. Revamped Pretend Mom and Strictly Business. Nick's Baby got a new face too. I've started a couple of new series. The Red River Valley Brides, and Brides of the West. Both of these series has books out. So look for Heart of a Lady, Last Bride,Last Man is on sale Winning the Bride is released. Brides of the West Series will be my longest series, I plan twelve books, I'm working on book Six right now, Shotgun Bride. This Side of Forever will release this month.Avalanche of the Heart is the last book of the Travers series. It was requested by you, the readers. Hope you enjoy that one too. I have no more free books and the reason is simple. I have offered as many as four free books of new lines and kept them free for quite some time. Now it is time to put a price on them. However, I have put a low price on my box sets that have recently come out. Family Matters is released and selling for $1.99. Family Ranch was just released but the price on that one goes to $5.99. Men of the Northwest is out too. I've reduced the prices of some of my older single books in case you want to pick one of those up and try it. Books like Nick's Baby, Runaway Bride, Pretend Mom, so look for those if you want a bargain. I have a civil war series coming out soon, it is the story of two twin brothers and their two cousins. Forever in Love, Remember Me, A Rebel's Love, and Plunder My Heart, this is exciting news for me, as I love this era. Over at CreateSpace you will find that I've put all the mid-grade short stories into one collection, and the adult short stories into another, look for Thinking Time, and Romancing the Short Stories. Also, the Tina series is now available in print in one volume at Create Space. If it's a print book you are looking for, you'll find all my books in print there. You might have noticed that I have skipped a couple of my books in Red River Valley Brides, but look for Dancing With the Preacherman, and Maggie's Dreams to complete that series soon. The reason for the skip is very simple, some books come slower than others. I write from pure inspiration and sometimes this is frustrating because without the inspiration I can't deliver what I think is a really good read, so I wait until it hits me, so to speak. And it always does, just not always in sequence. I haven't written many contemporaries lately, but Avalanche of the Heart has been a book in progress for a while, and finally out on the shelves. A new Contemporary series, "the Connor's" is coming your way with Cinderella Nanny Book one of the Connor's. Also a new cowboy contemporary series "Cowboy Lovin'. ". This will be sometime in the future. All in all. I've got about twenty books I am working on. So stay tuned, because I am writing full time and working like a bee to get them out to you. I've set a goal of a book a month, and so far it is working pretty well. Since I'm retired now, I have more time to devote to my writing. I'm always in the process of learning too, and doing research for my books. I'm working on a short novella, Cowboy Angels that should be out this new year too. In my romances, you will find many different circumstances. This is because we all fall in love differently and I'm trying to cover all the ways. From boy and girl next door, to instant attraction. I've always been a romantic so I spend a lot of time thinking along the lines of "how did you fall in love". There are so many stories this way. I hope you like some of them. Look around, I've got short stories for adults, and children. I've got historical western romance, I've got contemporary romances. All of them different in some way. Doing many genres is fun and keeps a writers mind fresh I think. I work on more than one book at a time. How do I keep them straight? Well, as I write I re-read the beginning of the manuscript. This way I can add things I might think of to the story to flesh it out. I also try to catch a lot of errors along the way. Browse the series books too, you'll get that warm and cozy feeling with the Travers Brothers Series, and discover The Amory's a bunch of rugged men from the north country. There's something for everyone here, including the kids. I hope you stay long enough to sample some, and by all means if you feel like it and you read one of my books or stories, write a review about it. I love hearing from my readers. There's a lot of books in the making these days. So stay tuned. One another thing I"d like to mention, my books sell at ITUNES, Amazon, Smashwords.com, Kobo Books, and Barnes and Noble, and a few other places. The print books can be bought at Createspace, any time you buy at Createspace, you are helping the author a great deal. Look for sales off and on, dropping prices on certain books and especially the big sales at Smashwords every year. Books are so much cheaper on sale. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something of interest. Have a wonderful day!

When I purchased this book I had my grand daughter in mind. She has been try to learn to read. When I got the book we had to read this book 4 times. Then next time we went to read she had to try and read the book herself. Now when she comes for her visit she askes for this book to read before we find a new one. We highly recomend this book. If it gave her the love for reading it's a book worth it's purchase. Thanks for this book. WE LOVED IT!!!! Mm

Some words were misspelled, run-on sentences, & commas where there should not be commas. Better for someone to read to the kids than to have them read it themselves. Pics are way too small, also.

Words mispelled. Sentences run together. Storyline was unnecessarily drawn out and boring.

My little cousin read this, and she loved it. I think this book is wonderful for first time readers. Just keep in mind there are a few typos, so make sure you read along with the reader.
