    Ferocious sensuality guides her hand

Mari Laureano's poetry clutches one lovingly by the throat from the first word, not letting go until the last. Maelstrom Rising is an affectionate night flight through gracefully-wrought lyricism and inspired honesty that sears the senses with tongue-pink flames. This author writes like an amphetamine-driven angel that we should all be so fortunate as to encounter even once in a lifetime. Mari Laureano is a maelstrom destined to captivate legions through her intimate relationships with language and ardor, and thankfully for us all, the lady is rising.

    Naked passion and talent

It is an extraordinary first book by an extraordinary poet. And I am not just saying that because I wrote the Foreword. Mari Laureano has passion, fire and a dark zest for living that she communicates with a natural eloquence that makes her poems, not for the children, an earthy, sweat-stained silk tapesty over a world too often dulled by posed pretensions of eroticism. While not vulgar or crude, she gets to the pith and clings with feral fury, her works inspiring strong emotions (and other physiological phenomenon). I am delighted to endorse this book, which features a piece I co-wrote with the talented poet, and hope to see many more such volumes from her in the future
