This book is great. I could barely put it down. I can't wait to read it again. It is highly informative and easy to read. Basically every chapter is an interview with a different editor. As useful as it is to read a book from an experienced freelance writer on how to get your articles published, it is even more useful to read what editors have to say. Do you want to know what are the most common pet peeves editors have about writers? Do you want to know what kinds of advice editors give to freelancers? Do you want to know why so many query letters are rejected? Do you want to know how to break in at top magazines? Then get this book, read it, and act on the invaluable advice that these experienced editors offer to you! This book is a must, especially for beginning freelancers. Thanks to Judy Mandell, we have a firsthand understanding of how magazines work. We also have reasons from various editors as to why queries are rejected (which is something they won't take the time to explain to you in a letter). Many of them agree on similar points, which clues the reader to consistent problem areas among freelancers. This book can also serve as a reference book. Thanks for writing it, Judy.
