Buffy the vampire slayer with nuns! yay!

I'll admit that I was a bit wary when I saw this trade in the store since Top Cow is known for cheese cake comics. But when I started to read this collection of the 1st six issues of the newest run of Magdalena I was happily surprised. Patience wields the spear of destiny, whose tip was dipped in the blood Chirst. As a descendent of Mary Magdalene, Patience is blessed with the supernatural ability to slay demons and other dark creatures, as all those in her bloodline have done for centuries. At the start of the comic,Patience has gone rouge, no longer serving the Catholic church but instead working as monster hunter. That is until she recevies word that a dark cult has unleashed the Anti-Chirst on earth. Will Patience rejoin the Church and slay the powerful evil or will she be consumed by darkness. Overall, this feels alot the best parts of classic Buffy the vampire slayer. Patience is strong, confident, and more then able to take of herself and handler. This is a great intoduction to an intriguing character. If Witchblade is anything like this then I may have a new comic book company to love besides DC and Marvel
