Jeaniene Frost "One for the Money" (Night Huntress series) novella originally from Death's Excellent Vacation anthology. This novella takes place after Destined for the Grave. This is a succulent little Cat and Bones fix, with plenty of humor. I especially loved the parts where Bones sacrifices himself in order to help Justine learn how to live on her own two fangs. I would definitely suggest you be up-to-date on the Night Huntress series prior to reading this novella. I highly recommend the Night Huntress series in order (Halfway to the Grave, One Foot in the Grave, At Grave's End, Destined for an Early Grave, This Side Of The Grave and One Grave At A Time) to fellow dark urban fantasy readers. I also look forward to reading Cat and Bones book 7, The anthology Bite Before Christmas "Home for the Holidays", which is almost the size of half a book due out 10/25/11, and also the new Night Prince series with Vlad and Leila, Once Burned due out 3/27/12. 5/5
Ilona Andrews "A Questionable Client" (Kate Daniels series) novella originally from Dark and Stormy Knights anthology. Since this is a prequel of sought, you can still enjoy this novella even if you are not familiar with the Kate Daniels series. I really enjoyed this novella. It reads like a prequel as Kate's first encounter with Saiman. It was interesting creative and action-packed. I am a huge Kate Daniel's fan; however this novella just didn't feel the same without Curran. 4.5/5 I highly recommend the Kate Daniels series in order (Magic Bites, Magic Burns, Magic Strikes, Magic Bleeds and Magic Slays) to fellow dark urban fantasy readers. And look forward to reading the next Edge series installment Fate's Edge due out 11/29/11, Andrea's Spin-off series due out 5/31/2012 and Kate book 6 due out 2/2013.

I love Jeanienne Frost and her Night huntress series and this is a great short story that happens between At Grave's End and Destined For an Early Grave (also after Eternal Kiss of Darkness if you read the spin off books). The book is about Bones & Cat babysitting a snotty heiress whos cousin is trying to kill her. The comedy and action in the books will make you want to read it again and again.
"A Questionable Client" by Ilona Andrews is the story of how Kate Daniels and Saiman meet. It does not effect the Kate Daniel series but is good information if you read it. It is also a great short story that does not leave you hanging if you do not read the series.

Found the cat and bones series as a fluke but have enjoyed all. This short story may not have the whole cast of characters but it is a great beginning read if you've not read any of the series...very enjoyable.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I love Jeaniene Frost so a little ditty about Cat and Bones was just what the Dr ordered. And this short story about Kate Daniels has me very intrigued indeed. Will def be looking into more of Ilona Andrews. A good read overall.
