Overview

By order of King Stephen, Nicole de Leon has been confined to Bledloe Abbey since her father's death eight years ago. As an orphaned noblewoman, she has always known that she would be married off to strengthen King Stephen's political position. But as she reached marriageable age, she never dreamt that her extended family would come to her aid and prevent this unwanted marriage. For Nicole's uncle, Connorap Maelgwn, has always despised King Stephen and would do anything to thwart him...even commit an act of war by kidnapping the bride the King needs to solidify an alliance. But Connor can't charge through England with an army. He needs a warrior who's trustworthy...a warrior like Rhodri ap Dafydd.
Rhodri ap Dafydd, a bard and warrior, has one purpose: to bring Nicole de Leon and home to Wales. He has no interest at all in politics—he's merely helping a friend. But from the moment he lays eyes on Nicole, friendship is the last thing on his mind. With her fiery nature and her sharp tongue, Nicole is unlike any woman he has ever met. But falling in love with her was never an option. Brought together by fate but soon torn apart by war, can these two star-crossed lovers find a future together?

As the king's ward, Nicole de Leon knows she must marry as the king decrees. But when Rhodri ap Daffyd is sent by her Welsh uncle to see how she fares and then an English earl unreasonably forces them to leave the safety of the abbey for Oxford Castle, Nicole is more than willing to go with Rhodri to Wales. Politics and power form the backdrop here, while Nicole's "conversations" with the dead add a bit of paranormal color to this sensual tale of 12th-century Britain. This is the final volume in Anton's medieval trilogy about the de Leon sisters and the magical legend that binds them together. The author (Twilight Magic) lives in Wisconsin.

With it's cringe-inducing cover art and horrible description, I took this recommendation from a friend with a grain of salt. To my surprise, I actually quite enjoyed it, and devoured the whole thing in one (up way too late) sitting. The heroine is excellent- smart, strong, and capable of taking care of herself, yet she realistically exists within the confines of her time. While her plot is more than a bit pedantic, and altogether too predictable, her characters and their relationships are outstanding. Even her supporting cast shines through. Frankly, I enjoyed the characters so much (especially her already married older sisters and their husbands) that I went ahead and tracked down the rest of the series, just to get more of them. Recommended for a fun romp, just don't take it too seriously.

This is the first book i have read by Ms. Anton. It is about 400 pages because the page numbers do not change each time. The male is strong and proctective. The story is adventurous and kept me on edge. The romance was great. The only disappointment for me was that I would like to have been given more information on their future.

Very hard to put down. Enjoyed the building of the relationship of the leads. Nicole is very likable and the hero a very kind and strong man. Even though i wasn't quite convinced that he was a superman, which might have been i liked him so much. Was sorry i missed the first two books in the series, i want to go back and read them now.

I. . . . LOVED this book. Wish her other books were bargain rates but I did enjoy this one. A princess from King Arthur's lineage was stored away at a nunnery until she was of age. Her Uncle sends his bard to retrieve her and their adventure begins trying to exit England and into Wales. I enjoyed the book and read the last 80 pgs in one morning to find the ending.
