Another deliciously seasonal and heart-warming tale from the Sunday Times bestselling author. In the pretty Lancashire village of Middlemoss, Lizzy is on the verge of leaving her serially unfaithful husband, Tom, when tragedy strikes. Good job she has welcome distractions in the form of her Christmas Pudding Circle, a circle of friends swapping seasonal recipes, and a simmering rivalry with cookery writer Nick Pharamond – a rivalry set to come to boiling point after he snatched the Best Mince Pie prize away from her at the village show.Meanwhile, the whole village is gearing up for the annual Mystery Play which takes place on Boxing Day. But who will play Adam to Lizzy’s Eve? Could it be the handsome and charismatic soap actor Ritch Rainford, or could someone closer to home win her heart? Whatever happens, it will certainly be a hard act to follow next year!Previously published as Sweet Nothings, Trisha has extensively reworked the original novel with fabulous new extra material.

I'm a huge fan of what I would call English Village Women's Fiction/Romance. (Sorry! I can't think of a shorter description.) And since this one has a bit of a Christmas theme -- which I also like -- it was like getting a present all wrapped up with a pretty bow! I should probably mention that I've read every Trisha Ashley book I can get my hands on at least three times, so I'm not what you might call an unbiased source. She's one of my favorite authors. Her books are like a little slice of British village life, full of eccentric characters and gentle humor, a real escape from day-to-day life. Try curling up with one of Trisha's books and a hot cup of tea. I think you'll enjoy it.

I enjoyed the story and the characters very much. The grammar, word order to make sense was obsolete. The tenses were not anywhere, and I had a hard time staying focused because of the errors. Not sure I'll even continue reading this book, diappointed.

The sample actually gives you quite a bit of the book - enough to make me want to read the whole book. It is interesting, full of slightly (sometimes more than slightly) whacky characters and yet you recognize them and their feelings. I do recommend the book!

Her books are full of interesting characters, she makes me want to pack up, and move to Sticklepond! I love all of her books

I liked this book and the quiet humor that surprised me into laughing outloud. The rural dialect was easy to follow and google helped too when an unfamiliar phrase or word would give me pause.
