Overview

Beware of a bite under a full moon . . . It will complicate your love life.

Celeste has more to worry about than a secret romance with a hot guy from the wrong side of town. That guy, Brandon, is a werewolf. With gossip and hostility swirling at school, it’s time to find a cure for his nocturnal condition, and perhaps the one person who can help is his scientist father. But what if a “cure” makes things worse and Brandon becomes a werewolf full time?

To keep Brandon’s secret safe, Celeste must hide her relationship with him from her best friends, but with the Moonlight Ball approaching, she must make a choice. Her dream is to go with her one true love—Brandon. But once the sun goes down, the clouds separate, and the full moon appears, could she really walk into the dance on the arm of a werewolf?

In this installment of the sumptuously romantic Full Moon series, Celeste faces her fears and her friends and finds out whether she’s strong enough to stand up for herself and her one true love.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up—In this follow up to Once in a Full Moon (HarperCollins, 2010), readers rejoin Celeste and her hunky new werewolf boyfriend as they try to find a cure for lycanthropy. None of Celeste's friends at Legend's Run High knows that Brandon is a werewolf—except for her ex-boyfriend, Nash. He has his own reasons for dangling his insider knowledge over the lovebirds' heads. The overbearing snobbishness of Celeste's friends is unrelenting and detracts from the story of trying to find a werewolf cure. Celeste and crew live in the upscale Eastside. Brandon lives in the Westside, prompting her friends to harass him endlessly. This class distinction pervades every aspect of the book. Once, when Celeste (who's the nice one) contemplates sitting with Brandon at lunch, she explains her discomfort: "We never stepped foot on the other side of the cafeteria even to throw our trash away. And this time I was not only planning to venture onto their half but actually sit down with one of their own." Later Celeste's BFF retorts, "You have to sit with us tomorrow. You have to. Our friendship depends on it." The paranormal component is low-key and the romance is mild and sweet. A couple of twists at the end add surprise. Loose ends suggest a sequel. Reading the earlier title first is helpful, but not absolutely necessary. Buy where Schreiber's books are in high demand.—Jennifer Prince, Buncombe County Public Library, NC

    more from this reviewer

I tried to read this book two or three times. I should have know

I tried to read this book two or three times. I should have known better as I barely got through the first book in this series. It was just too slow and boring. It was like the story kept looping back around itself instead of going forward. The characters took forever to do anything and were so wishy-washy in their decisions that it was just annoying. Eventually, I just gave up.

BookWhisperer Reviews Magic of the Moonlight

Schreiber continues Celeste and Brandon¿s story in Magic of the Moonlight. While this author promises a sweet little romance; I struggle with the lack of depth to the story. The plot thickens in this second installment, and Celeste and Brandon themselves in a fighting for one another. This is a fast and effortless read that would be good for the younger ages. While I find this to be a good read; it is not a novel that I would see myself revisiting.
