They are the Hidden.
Not quite human. Far from normal.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Her brother was mysteriously murdered with no witnesses, clues-or motives. Yet Violet Castanega knows he won't be the last to die unless she seeks help. But the Hidden's law enforcement won't come to the aid of her rowdy dragon clan, and the only person who will listen to her is one tough cop. Violet has tangled with him before, and it got rough. This time, it's getting hot . . .

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT

Powerful Guard member Kade Kavanaugh has been ordered to take out Violet Castanega. While assassination orders don't come with explanations, his instincts scream that killing the feisty beauty is wrong. Now Kade must put his career, not to mention his life, on the line to save her. But as the passion-and the danger-heat up between Kade and Violet, can they survive the darkest magick of all?

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
12/16/2013
Mud and gators feature in Rush’s first paranormal about the Crescents—shape-shifting dragons, sorcerers, and part-angels living undetected among the Mundanes of modern-day Florida. When one of Violet Castanega’s brothers is killed on the family alligator farm, she suspects someone is trying to start a war among the dragon clans of the swampy Fringe. Violet takes her theory to the Guard, the police of the Crescent world. When she spots evidence of Guard involvement in the murders, Guard Kade Kavanaugh is ordered to eliminate her, and he has every intention of doing so, until his gut tells him that she’s innocent. Violet and Kade join forces to investigate the killings, with time-outs for mud wrestling. Given that the Fringe dwellers act like stereotypical hicks and Kade is an unabashed hit man, it’s commendable that Rush manages to make her leads sympathetic. Less palatable is the characterization of the only identified black character, Dune, a sociopathic Guard who leers at Violet and taunts his victims before killing them. Agent: Nicole Resciniti, Seymour Group. (Feb.)

I cannot believe bookstores aren't stocking this series--people should be snapping them up!

This second edition of "The Hidden" world created by Jaime Rush is AWESOME! Her characters are smoking hot--strong, alpha males & even stronger kick-ass females!

Her magical world of Dragons & "Deuces" (Sorcerers) is so natural, I fall right into this world & never want to leave! Smoothly written, fast-paced, and simply delightful.

The best part? All 3 books in this series are being published one right after the other--December, January, February--so I don't have to wait YEARS to read the next edition! FANTASTIC! I've already pre-ordered Angel Seduced, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for MORE Hidden in the future! Absolutely MUST-READ!

Second books are always a guessing game will it be better or worse.  Can the author bring the excitement of the first book into the second?  In this instance the answer is heck yeah!  This is the second in a very loosely connected series (you don’t have to have read the first to get the second but you are going to want to read the first, Dragon Awakened, at some point because it is so good) and it is as good as the first if not better.  Fast paced, sexy, and super fun.  I couldn’t put it down I just had to see what was going to happen next.  If you are a fan of paranormal romance you are going to want to check this wonderful series out.
