About the Author

1979 was a stellar year for famous births: Heath Ledger, Adam Levine, Penelope Cruz, Drew Brees, Norah Jones, Pink, John Krasinski, and Claire Danes, to name but a few. Unfortunately, Robert Allen Johnson missed the cut by a couple of weeks and entered the world in the closing days of 1978.

The second of three children, Johnson was born, raised, and lived in Texas City, Texas until he moved to the Ukraine in 1992. As an adult, he spent a total of three years in Southeast Asia teaching English as a Second Language until he returned to the States bored, confused, and downright scared about his place in American life as a new dad and uninspired salesman.

Late one night, while staring at a ceiling fan in the darkness, the opening paragraphs of an incredible story entered into his brain. For the next few weeks, its talons refused to release their grip on his day-to-day life until Johnson set pen to page and devoted himself to telling the tale of ancient Rome's fascinating historical figure Gnaeus Pompey Magnus. The first book in his MAGNUS trilogy, Rising Sun, was published in March 2014. It's followup, Triumphator, will be released in July 2014.

He now lives in Indiana with his wife and two children. He has forsaken a life as a salesman.
