Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 4-6 Flip orders a live red fox through the mail, and while he is not allowed to keep it permanently, his brief experience with it helps him to better understand and accept his adopted Korean brother. He finally understands what it must be like for Todd, who can't go back to his homeland and who very much needs a big brother to love him, and he stops thinking of Todd as a ``mail-order'' kid. The main characters are well developed and realistic. McDonald skillfully combines the messages of not keeping wild animals as pets and the importance of trying to understand the situations and feelings of others. A well-written story with a pertinent message. Nancy P. Reeder, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, Columbia, S.C.
