About the Author

Mr. Demerritt graduated from the University of Maine in 1951 and received his law degree from Columbia University.  Following military service in the US Army he entered the practice of maritime law in New York City.

Mr. Demeritt is a long time member of the Maine Historical Society and the Maine State Museum.  He is a former director of the American Society of Arms Collectors.
