It is the story of a summer in the life of Colleen, a college bound 18-year old, who is living on her own for the first time. She faces many obstacles over the summer, from reuinting with her ex-boyfriend, Evan, losing her current boyfriend, Ben, having a truly awful roommate, and much more. Colleen, however, is able to make it through the months with her three closest friends by her side and an unexpected new friend, an elderly artist. Colleen ultimately struggles with herself, making mistakes along the way, yet finally arriving at a place she can be at peace. Furthermore, Catherine Clark is able to make her novel come to live by the use of many literary devices. Through the constant use of rhetorical questions, Clark allows Colleen to state the obvious in her own thoughts and while conversing with others. Also, personification is used often when Colleen describes her cats, Starsky and Hutch, making them at times seem human. In addition, while Colleen is working at a crabshack, her boss tells her to chose a crustacean which represents her personality. Colleen, therefore, speaks metaphorically when she refers to herself as a soft shell crab. Clark's style is plain and simple, making her novel easy to comprehend. Its tone is constantly changing from shocked to humorous and candid. This book will keep any teenage girl up all night, with all the drama, bickering, and romance the fun never stops. The author explains how Colleen or any typical girl deals with the unexpected choices each having critical consequences. I love how I can relate to this book; it helps you realize that life is not perfect. Colleen is an interesting character who is artistic, and quiet, but who faces the same challenges that teenage girls face everyday in their lives. Her friends (Erica, Samantha, and Haley) all bring unique personalities to MAINE SQUEEZE, causing female readers to find themselves identifying to each and every girl, and comparing the characters to her own friends. Reading MAINE SQUEEZE is like reading a letter from your best friend. Filled with ups and downs in the romance, work, and school departments, this book will be cherished by all female teenagers.

    REALLY GOOD BOOK!!

Maine Squeeze is another love story but it is not like the other ones you read that make you cry at every single word. It¿s about a young teenager named Colleen who is living at home with her 2 best friends while her parents are in Europe and works at Bobb¿s Lobster and is in a happy relationship until her old boyfriend Evan shows up unexpected. He then starts working at the same restaurant as Colleen. Her feelings for Evan start to show and she is having to choose if she wants to date the guy she fell in love with so many summers ago but left or the guy who makes her happy.

Okay, this book was probably the best book i have read in a long time. I am a huge fan of short romance type novels but this one really takes the cake. I loved how Colleen had that old summer romance that just had to pop back in but she never forgot about her boyfriend, Ben, either. Honestly though, Evan sounds absolutely amazing to me :) This book is filled with twists and laughs and it made me bug my mom for months about wanting to move to Maine!! I definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone.

    Good Book!

It is a really good book. I recommend it. It isn't one of the greatest books ever but, very entertaining and good for passing time. The end confused me though a bit with Ben.

This book was romantic and funny, it had characters you wanted to love, yet other characters you wanted to hate. It overall was a pretty good book, except for the ending which in my opinion was very weak.

    Hooked Between Two

Colleen is on an island with two boys who she has always liked. Evan had decided to come back to the island for the summer. Colleen has always had a crush on Evan, but last summer they broke up and she was now dating Ben. Her parents were going to be gone all summer, because they were going on a trip. She was allowed to have her friends stay with her for the summer, as long as they followed the rules her parents gave her. When she gets her job she finds out that she has the same shift as Evan, and she I shocked because she knows that it¿s going to cause trouble . As the summer goes on Colleen and Ben get in lots of fights. Do they break up? If they do, does she decide to hook up with Evan? I thought this book was excellent. All you wanted to do was keep reading it and not put it down. The only way your going to like it is if you are into reading romance novels that have some drama in it. Girls would only like this book, because its just a girly book and I don¿t think guys would like it very well.

    Recommended.

This book was okay. I wasn't that impressed, Catherine Clark has wrote better books than this. I would recommend it, it was a little simple. The main conflict was the struggle within herself, does she pick Ben, who's reliable, but boring at times, orr Evan- who lives for today, not tomorrow. The whole book it was a little flustering because she was trying to pick between these two boys, and by the time she picked, the book was over. Okay. One thumb up.

Is It A Summer Fling Or The Real Thing

Colleen Tempelton lives in an island off the coast of Maine. When she graduates high school she has a steady boyfriend and three best friends. Over the summer Colleen¿s parents go to Europe, leaving the house to her and her friends. They do not leave, however without giving Colleen and her friends a strict set of rules to follow. All the girls must sign it. Colleen works at Bobb¿s, a small seafood restaurant on the island. On her first day of work the summer takes and unexpected twist when her ex-boyfriend, Evan, shows up to work. He left her last summer and broke her heart. She is still mad at him but can¿t help it. She starts liking him again. She tells herself that she has everything she could possibly want with her boyfriend, Ben. Will Evan end up ruin her summer and her relationship with Ben, or will he make her life better than it¿s ever been? This book, Maine Squeeze, by Cathrine Clark is romantic and fast-paced. Just when you think you have the story figured out something happens and changes the plot completely. This is and amazing book, once I started reading I couldn¿t put it down. It is totally worth your time. I give it two thumbs up! The only thing I didn¿t like was when it ended.

    Well.....

I abosolutely loved this book it was amazing. I really enjoy romances and this was, 'Oh, Yea!', like that. It was one of my first books of this type and when I first read it no one could get me to put it down. I liked it so much I returned it back to the friend I borrowed it from and bought the first copy avalible. It was an page-turner and I asoblutely love the characters. Although I was kinda disappointed with the abrupt ending the entire thing was GREAT!
