Overview

Five in the tent! A camping trip with Maisy turns into a slapstick comedy of errors in this hilarious picture-book adventure.

When Maisy sets off to go camping in the country, it’s only natural that all her friends come along, too. But they soon find that pitching a tent is not an easy thing to do. Even if they do manage to keep the tent up, there’s the matter of fitting them all in — Maisy, Charley, Cyril, Tallulah, and finally, the huge elephant, Eddie. What a squeezy squish-squash! Good night, campers! Uh-oh-what’s that popping sound?

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
New titles extend popular children's series. The inimitable mouse and her friends head to the country and pop a tent in Maisy Goes Camping by Lucy Cousins. After singing songs 'round the campfire, the gang heads for bed. But will they all fit inside the tent? Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Maisy, the little mouse, is back with a new adventure and all her friends. Like previous Maisy books, this one is bright and bold, with one, large-font sentence on each page and a joyous cast of characters rendered with simple lines and solid blocks of color. In other words, it is a perfect book to share with toddlers and preschoolers, either one-on-one or with a group at "circle time." In this story, Maisy and her friends work together to pitch a tent, laugh at several mishaps, sing around the campfire, then count how many of them can fit into the tent as they go to bed for the night. Young children will particularly enjoy seeing Eddie, the elephant, try to get into the tent after everyone else, creating a "squeezy squish-squash," that finally sends everyone but Eddie popping back out of the tent. This is a book preschoolers will want to read again and again. 2004, Candlewick Press, Ages 2 to 5.
