Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
The first person to break through the Heavenly Blue in this novel is sixty-four-year-old Otto Schnitter, a.k.a. on Earth as the best school bus driver of Longfellow Consolidated. However, this new Celestial City living seems to take an eternity of adjustment. The reader leaves Otto to haphazardly journey through many streets and places where he meets a host of beings¾angels and animals, Mrs. Noah, Solomon, Gideon, and other Earthlings. Humorous illustrations color over the story's lack of clarity and purpose; and like dreams, the author dips into biblical delusions and preposterous religious scenarios—a confusing and shaky plateau upon which young readers need not be placed. The book may require a true miracle to sustain its Earthbound existence. 2000, Celebrity Books, . Ages 10 up. Reviewer: Patricia Timbrook
