    Concerns

I am an online teacher and I am concerned about what is being promoted here. The authors claim you can make lots of money this way, but you will have to teach many classes. I don't believe it is possible or fair to the students we are serving. The most any online teacher should teach at one time is four or five classes. These authors are teaching many more and claim to be doing quality work. Teaching colleges in the U.S. generally limit the amount of classes each year to 8 or 10. This serves to insure that we do our best for our students. Shouldn't this also be true for online students?

    I Also Recommend:

    This book works!

I read this book two years ago while ABD. Then, I followed it, and now I teach online and on ground. I am not making the money they talk about however, but its a slow process. Worth every penny! I will add that teaching online has been extremely rewarding. These authors add clarity to a difficult process.

    It's About Time

After completing my PhD, I have spent the last 4 years trying to get on with a traditional university with no luck. Also, corporate America is a waste of time especially if you have a PhD because everyone is afraid they will have to call you doctor, especially your supervisor or (God forbid) the CEO. This book takes a hard look at a new industry that allows degreed professional away to make an excellent living and still have time for family and friends.

    THE Authority on Teaching Online

This book should become the essential 'how to' for anyone who is interested - or even thinks they might be interested - in teaching online. The well-organized layout of the book, including the tips and guidelines from the authors who both bring extensive practical knowledge to the table, makes it the most helpful tool available for anyone who wants to teach online. One of the best parts of Make Money Teaching Online is that it guides you step by step through the process of preparing to seek employment teaching online. This includes the ins and outs of getting the job, explaining what to expect when one does get the job, all the way through to understanding the pro's and con's of how teaching online affect's one's life. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a way to supplement their income by teaching online, or even a person who is considering the world of online education as a new way of life.

    Dear 'A Concern'

This review is written from the vantage point of one of Dr. Mirabella's students - two different stats courses with him through Capella University's Ph.D. program. The book is completely reflective of how Dr. Mirabella successfully approaches his objective of ensuring a high quality learning experience for his students. It is practical and comprehensive, using an understandable and conversational tone to help would-be instructors in a way that is like having a job coach/mentor at the ready through every step of the process. This book takes the view that with the increasing popularity of on-line education, there is plenty of work for those who seek it. It is in this spirit that it provides practical wisdom on everything from the personal decision to seek a teaching position to the implications of organizational politics and the importance of one's attitude. While teaching on-line may not be for everyone, this book is a highly recommended 'must read' for anyone considering it as a whole or partial career move. Primer for teaching online

I strongly recommend this insightful, comprehensive book that can easily be used as a primer for teaching online. I can honestly say that I wish I had this book when I had to switch to an online teaching format. The demand for online education is increasing exponentially, resulting in a great need for good online teachers. Make Money Teaching Online is a perfect how-to book for getting started in the business and includes everything a person needs to know ¿ from how to get a job to managing the workload. It will be useful to the seasoned faculty member who wishes to teach online or wants to become more efficient at teaching online. Newcomers who have worked in other fields and want to explore the world of academia will find it very enlightening and intriguing as they consider working without the usual constraints of time and space. Work is where you have your laptop ¿ or desktop ¿ no more commuting to work, wasting time in an office, or having to deal with the typical organizational hierarchy.
