Overview

From the style contributor for the Today show and Style Channel cohost–a first-of-its-kind style guide for women on how to bring out the very best in the men they love.

He's made a name for himself as the master of makeovers, spreading style on MTV and the Today show and recently earning a place in Crain's "Forty Under Forty" list of notables. Now Lloyd Boston gives every woman the know-how to make her man look his best.

Covering style from head to toe, Make Over Your Man includes a comprehensive quiz and is chock full of instructive charts, Q & As, a retail resource, and up-close photographs for transforming your Fred Flintstone into Fred Astaire. With his energizing humor, Boston guides readers through the ins and outs of everything from suits to casual clothes, outerwear, and even grooming. Knowing that diplomacy is key, Boston also explains exactly how to coax the boyfriend into tossing those high school sneakers and flood pants. And to top it off, ten candid celebrity makeovers are featured, including:
• Bobbi Brown and her husband, Steven
• Star Jones and her nephew
• Patti LaBelle and her son
• Cynthia Rowley and Alan Cummings
• Elizabeth "Survivor" Filarski and fiancé
• Tyra Banks and Dad

Fabulously illustrated with photographs by Len Prince, Make Over Your Man gives guys a new level of pride and confidence and gives women a date who will turn heads–for all the right reasons.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Today Show contributor, host on E! Entertainment's Style Network and all-around fashion maven Boston comes to the rescue of women who have, at one time or another, considered sacrificing the leading men in their lives to talk show exposis on the sartorially challenged. In his sophomore outing (after 1998's Men of Color), Boston tackles wardrobe "101 basics" and beyond-dipping into fashion history and Hollywood iconography; drawing upon industry expertise from the likes of Tommy Hilfiger (for whom Boston worked for more than a decade) and interviews with high profile pairs such as Tiki and Ginny Barber and Lisa Ling and her dad-to bring readers a practical guide to updating their loved one's personal style. In his straightforward, unbuttoned tone, Boston advocates a combination of tact and encouragement on those much-needed shopping sprees; regardless of a fellow's fashion shortcomings, a woman's judicious use of her "gold seal of approval" nurtures his confidence, a prerequisite for change. And even once he's overcome his unhealthy attachment to khakis, he'll still find this how-to, which is packed with as much fashion advice as a lifetime subscription to GQ, to be a continued resource on the refined arts of haberdashery: Windsor knots, dimples, and yes, that mysterious hand-tied bowtie. Bonus bits include Star Jones's "perfect manicure/pedicure for men" and interior designer John Yunis's tips for keeping closets organized. Photos not seen by PW. (Nov.) I have been praying for this book forever! So smartly done, and fun at the same time. Lloyd Boston covered everything that I always wanted to know about men's clothing. I watch him all time on The Today Show and the Style Network--and he really knows his stuff. I hope hope that women try his tips, like I did, on any man they love. This book solves it all!
