Make Your Vision Go Viral
Christ’s final words set out His eternal vision and direction for His disciples: “Go and make followers of all people in the world” (Matthew 28:19 NCV). It was part of His last will and testament. But how can you do it successfully?
In 1961, drawn together by their passion to fulfill the vision of Christ, 31 dedicated graduates of Abilene Christian University (ACU) moved to Brazil to ignite the flame of eternal hope in the hearts of South American people. Their plan was to plant churches in great Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking cities in the Latin world. And Great Cities Missions (GCM) was born.
Since then GCM has recruited, trained, and cared for more than 279 missionaries on 29 teams, successfully reaching multiple cities on the South American continent—missionaries such as Max and Denalyn Lucado, Bryan and Becky Gibbs, Kelley and Julie Grant, and many others.
Now, 50 years later, under the leadership of Gary Sorrells and others, GCM’s vision is ever expanding and powerful. And through their extensive experience GCM has crystallized a model for success in foreign missions. Make Your Vision Go Viral details that model in a proven 5-step plan—that really works! It’s a practical plan that every missionary in every church can follow to succeed.

About the Author

DR. GARY SORRELLS has spent more than 40 years proclaiming the gospel by planting churches in the great cities of the Latin world. His formal education includes the B.A., M.A., and earned Doctor of Ministry from Abilene Christian University (ACU). He has also studied at Texas Tech University, Trinity Divinity School, and Northeastern University.
As a resident of Latin America for eight years, Gary directed the Institute of Biblical Studies, Camp Mount of Olives, and planted the South Metro Church with a team of coworkers. He served eleven years on the Mission Faculty of ACU. In 1980, after Gary’s work with the Sao Paulo, Brazil, missionary team, and three years on the Bible faculty at Lubbock Christian University, he began anew his work to plant churches in capital cities in Latin America. As the vision grew, in 1990, Gary was appointed executive director of the not-for-profit Great Cities Missions. He became director emeritus in 2011.
Gary now uses his extensive background in missions as the basis for his full-time Christian writing career by creating the God Reflection blog at GodReflection.com and authoring
books such as this one.
