All Music Guide - Steve Huey
Produced by Scott Litt, Incubus' second full-length album, Make Yourself, makes a bid for broader mainstream success while keeping the group rooted in a hybrid of familiar late '90s alt-metal i.e., roaring guitars, white-noise sonic textures, and an undercurrent of electronics and Chili Pepper funk-rock. Where S.C.I.E.N.C.E. sometimes veered abruptly between the two genres without really fusing them, Make Yourself finds the band settling more comfortably into its sound, and once again, there are a few really good singles. Once again, too, there are still a few awkward moments and underwritten songs, but overall, the album should definitely ...

    more from this reviewer

    A Must Have.

The B+N review writer and the reviewer who gave this cd only a couple stars are so so wrong. This cd is amazing! All of it, not just the hits. Actually I almost prefer some of the non hits better like "Make Yourself" and "The Warmth", "Privilege", and "I Miss You." This is one of those cd's I'd actually label as a classic and I don't say that about all the music I like. Every song here is astounding and sucks you in. You feel like you are on a journey through your mind. God, this cd is so scratched up from having it in my car all the time.

    Spectacular

As with all of the Incubus CDs I love every song on the album. Incubus is great, and I suggest this album to anyone who loves great music with deep and interesting lyrics.

    Bee's Words of Self

I really liked the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because it was sooooooo magical.I'm a person who likes books with different backgrounds such as: fiction stories including magic, adventure, comedy and mystery! I really enjoy things that are out of this world! I think that people who like to be different and don't hang around the crowd like books that are odd, like me. Remember you can read anything you want,no matter what others say!

    Best Band; Great Album

While this album doesn't top S.C.I.E.N.C.E (in my opinion) it comes very close. Definately in my top five albums list. While this may not be my favouite Incubus album, it does include my favourite song, ''Make Yourself''. This is not only my favourite song by the band, but my favouite song ever. This song means a lot to me for various reasons, and portrays a good message. Other noteworthy songs are, ''Privilege, ''Clean'', ''The Warmth'', and ''Stellar''... they're all good. If this album isn't in your collection already, go out and buy it!

    Utterly Amazing

This is in my opinion the greatest musical contrivance ever produced. The singles, Pardon Me, Drive, and Stellar aren't even the best songs on this album. The spectacular, spacey, sonic sounds of Mike Einziger sweep you away into another plane, while the powerful vocals of Brandon Boyd(in my opinion the best rock singer there is) hit home with their potent meaning. The bass and drums are the driving force in many of the songs, while other DJ's are pathetic amatuers compared to the sounds of Kilmore. This transcends anything produced to date.

    **Incubus**

As you all may know Incubus has a very unique and very original sound. No other artists or bands has ever sounded like them. There strong lyrics about relationships and breakups has a very meaningful message. This cd ''Make Yourself'' is definetly one you can leave in your cd players and listen from begining to end. Incubus has definetly come a long way from where they started and with this album it shows. They have grown a lot and worked hard on this album and I just hope with the release of their next album it is as good as this one. Hopefully aftere reading this you will check out this album anbd like it as much as I do!

One of The Only Cd's I can honestly sit down and listen through the whole thing

Incubus, man if you read this you are awesome, the way you did the guitar, with it's new styles, or with the bass, showing up at the perfect time, or the dj, adding crisply to it, all of this adds to awesome lyrics and vocals.

    Incubus is GREAT!

I'd like to give Incubus in general 5 stars. I think they are such a great band, that will hopefully stay around for a while. This is definately one cd that you can't just stop listening to all of a sudden. It takes a long time to wear off! Even if it does wear off. For myself, I can say it hasn't.

    OK

I thought, from ''Drive,'' ''Stellar,'' and ''Pardon Me,'' that the album had to be a great album. I was wrong. The only other good song on this album is ''Battlestar Scralatchtica,'' and that's an instrumental (albeit very melodic and enjoyable). Other than that, this is tired, generic rock I was hoping not to hear.

    Definatly worth the cash

After hearing Stellar, I had to buy Incubus' CD. I was hooked after hearing it twice and havent stopped playing it since. Brandon Boyd has an awesome voice and every single song on the CD is good. Make Yourself is definatly worth your money!

    7 Minds without the horns

I'm not sure who came first, 7 Minds or Incubus, but this album packs a similar punch as well as a few melodic surprises like those found in 7 Minds' latest CD, Diminished.

    Good CD by Incubus

After hearing ''Pardon Me'' on the radio, I new I had to have this CD. This whole CD is awesome and I love their Sci Fi sound. There is not one weak track on this CD. Some of the good songs on this CD are ''Stellar'', ''Make Yourself'', ''Drive'', and the best, ''Pardon Me''.

    One amazing album

Make Yourself, the third installment from the funk/metal band Incubus, picks up right where the last album left off as it defines new levels of musical craftsmanship. The bands ability to fuse together so many different styles of music is what makes them so amazing. It offers everything from slow romantic tones to heavy distorted ones that leave the listener stunned by the sheer talent that the band offers. Put very simply, this album rocks. The final product is a result of the transformation that Incubus claims has finally left them where they want to be musically. The songs from Make Yourself are well structured, diverse, and fit my only requirement of good music, they blow my mind. Take twelve amazing songs backed with the strong melodic abilities of lead singer Brandon Boyd, and you have got yourself a quality album. If you've not yet heard this album or even Incubus, do yourself a favor and check out Make Yourself.

The sinful sounds of Incubus levitate in your mind.

With the classic sound of Brandon's voice mixed with a dash of the other band memebers, you have the enticing sounds of Incubus. There songs flow together inviting you to get up and dance or just sit there and relax. A few favorite songs to listen to are... Clean, Make Yourself, and Drive. A must buy.

INCUBUS IS THE BEST BAND IN THE WHOLE WORLD. THEIR LYRICS ARE AWESOME AND YOU COULD LISTEN TO THE SONGS FOREVER. THIS IS A GREAT CD- EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE IT. SONGS 4 (THE WARMTH) 8 (DRIVE) AND 12(PARDON ME) ARE THE BEST.
