The book is in 7 chapters and starts appropiately with the history, customs and colonization of the Shaker communities in the U.S. Design, Construction and Finishing of Shaker furniture is well described and shown in photos of actual pieces in various musuems. The book is very well illustrated in black and white photos of a wide variety of furniture, accompanied by good descriptive text. So far, I've built only one piece of furniture using the measured musuem drawings, and it was easy to follow and it turned out well I think. I've gone over most of the measured drawings in some detail and it seems that all of the necessary measurements and notes to build a particular piece of furniture are given.
