    Good, but very basic

I thought the book was a useful, but very basic, intro to cabinet-making. Some helpful tips in there, but also some dated (and somewhat useless) descriptions on how to use certain power tools. But if you need to make a bunch of plywood boxes for cabinets, it's a decent place to look.

    Downright exciting!

No dogma here -- all possible methods for construction are presented clearly and fully. There are comparison photos, drawings, and tables to help you determine what method and materials YOU wish to use for each impressive project, using ordinary woodworking tools. No need to buy biscuit-making or pocket-joinery equipment unless you want to, nor strict adherence to any particular method, while informing you about wood characteristics to be accommodated with each method.

There are also excellent color close ups of tools in use, steps of production, etc. that really drew me in and made me anxious to get started. That doesn't happen a lot.
