Description: This is a great read on how to apply cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to different clients. It is excellent for beginning therapists to begin using some of the clinical advice to help their clients.
Purpose: The purpose is to help novice therapists who are struggling to assist their clients using the CBT modality. This book does a great job of addressing the difficulties that most therapists will have when it comes to using CBT with their first clients. The book certainly meets the author's objectives.
Audience: The primary audience is novice therapists, although the book is immensely helpful for students and aspiring clinicians.
Features: The book covers using the CBT treatment process from beginning to termination with various clients. It is very helpful in explaining the basics of CBT. The appendix is also very helpful in that it provides a wide variety of other resources to help aspiring clinicians with other readings in CBT.
Assessment: This book offers an excellent foundation for using CBT with a variety of clients. The second edition further clarifies some of these points.
