Amy Lane has been a busy lady this year!!!! She has happily kept me busy reading
this summer with a some magical short stories and now the a sequel to Keeping Promise Rock.
We are brought back to Levee Oaks, and to Shane Perkins. If you read the first story, he is one of the towns police officers we met, who believed in the Pulpit and its people and became `family' at Deacon and Cricks Sunday dinner table. We now learn about his past. He was 10 yrs on the force, ready to make detective. He was outed as gay by his partner and lover. He was set up by his brother officers with no backup, and was critically injured. The department `paid' a large sum of money, to cover up this situation. Shane was a rich man, in money, but still felt the need to be needed and joined the force in Levee Oaks.
We meet his sister Kimmy, who we learn has her own baggage. She travels the circuit, of Renaissance Faires and lives with a loser and druggie Kurt. Shane travels a few towns over to see her dance as the faire comes to a nearby town. It is there Shane meets Mikhail Vasilyovitch Bayul. This is their story. Mikhail and Shane have put themselves out there for this relationship. Shanes desire to woo this man , Mikhail who is so lost, he has no self worth at all. The Making and Keeping of Promises is not new to us as the reader, but to Mikhail it makes Shane his Lubime...
Making Promises is a great visit to see how our friends in Levee Oaks are. Babies have
been born and are growing up. New stories are out there for our author to draw ...Who will Kimmy and Benny meet ?? Is there a HEA for Jeff???? And most of all our author has given us a brand new word for Beloved .
Wonderful read Amy Lane!!!
