Children's LiteratureAt holiday season, the Math Monsters want to give gifts to their ten friends. Aunt Two Lips suggested to them that they give holiday gifts of green and blue gollywomples. Aunt Two Lips gave them boxes for their gifts. Each box would hold ten gollywomples. So, Addison, Multiplex, Split, and Mini filled the boxes with various combinations of green and blue gollywomples that would add up to ten. They tried to discover every group of two numbers that would have a sum of ten. They made up rhymes about the different ways of adding green ones and blue ones to equal ten. There are corner questions in the book to stimulate the children to do some critical thinking about gift giving and adding two numbers to get ten. Activities coordinated with these corner questions are listed in the back of the book to guide parents or teachers. This book is part of the "Math Monsters" series, It would be a beneficial addition to a classroom library. 2004, Weekly Reader Early Learning Library, Ages 5 to 9.
