Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"This book attempts to cover all aspects of breast imaging, with the inclusion of sections on postioning. technical quality and physics, as well as the interpretation of screening and symptomatic mammography...The book is well laid out, with each chapter offering the necessary information and a clearly presented summary of key points... This book would be a useful addition to any breast screening unit, offering a helpful resource to trainee specialist radiologists and advanced practitioner radiographer...I would recommend this textbook as a useful resource for a wide audience."

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Bennett S. Greenspan, MD, MS (Medical College of Georgia)
Description: With the goal of improving breast cancer detection and diagnosis, this book provides practical information on breast imaging.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide practical information for radiologists who interpret breast studies and for trainees to help them improve the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. It stresses learning the right questions to ask about all of the available imaging modalities and provides key information and guidance on interpreting findings that are likely to be encountered in clinical practice.
Audience: The audience is radiologists who interpret breast imaging studies, including general radiologists and those who subspecialize in other areas but also provide interpretations of these studies. It is also intended for residents and fellows in breast imaging.
Features: Beginning with the approach and technique, the book covers the basics of obtaining adequate images and the physical principles that contribute to providing high quality images. Subsequent sections cover findings on mammography, screening exams, diagnostic exams and management, postoperative studies, and interventional techniques. The book is superbly arranged for providing guidance on the full range of breast imaging studies. The key points and the cases at the end of each chapter are particularly helpful in driving home understanding of the material. While the book clearly emphasizes mammography, it also covers breast ultrasound and MRI well, particularly with the cases at the end of each chapter. Image quality is also superb.
Assessment: This book provides superb guidance for the interpretation of breast imaging studies for those interpreting physicians who are not subspecialists in breast imaging as well as for trainees in breast imaging. It fills an important niche in the field.
