Overview

An Orphaned Silhouette Bombshell:
Making the Rules is a stand-alone book in the former Bombshell Hunter Agency titles.

*Also available in a discounted bundle with HIDDEN STEEL*

Kimmer Reed is a Hunter Agency operative, a street foundling escaped from an abusive family and raised to be code-name Chimera--a fierce, savvy loner with a natural gift for reading people. Now on her first assignment with the one man she trusts--the one man she can't read--she finds herself overseas in the Basque countryside, framed for the theft of the very antiquity she has been sent to guard and doubting her ability to work with a partner at all--never mind the man she loves.

Rio Carlsen, former CIA field officer who left the agency with scars both physical and emotional, joins Hunter Agency field operations with reservations--and only because his partner is Kimmer. Now he's caught in the schemes of a woman from Kimmer's past. Political terrorism, antiquities theft, and revenge--this woman wants it all, and she's on her way to getting it.

Framed, cut off from the agency, and tangled in Basque Nationalist splinter terrorist groups, the biggest challenge Kimmer and Rio face is coming to terms with their pasts and with each other--so they can live through the day on the way to saving it.

About Kimmer & Rio in BEYOND THE RULES:

"Doranna Durgin's BEYOND THE RULES is action-packed from start to finish. Kimmer is so strong that readers won't doubt for even a minute that she'll come out on top in the end. And Rio is a hero any woman could love."

Editorial Reviews

Charles Thompson
This is a fast paced book. It keeps your interest from the start and is hard to put down If you are looking for a story to help you fall asleep, don't pick this one. Kimmer and Rio are a good match, work well together, worry about each other and get the job done. Doranna Durgin has given us another great book. Too bad the series was pulled by print publisher.
Karen Gould
This book has a lot of action, great characters, and some romance (but not steamy sex scenes - if you're looking for that, this isn't the book for you). All this and an actual interesting plot too! I've been a Doranna Durgin fan for years, and she consistently delivers all the things I like in a book, and she doesn't disappoint in this, her first self-published book, either.

Having read the 1st 2 books in the series i thoroughly enjoyed the further adventures of Kimmer & Rio. For me a good romance book is not always about the sex but the relationship and how it grows. In this story you get to see how Kimmer & Rio learn to trust themselves as partners when they are tested by outside forces. They know they are capable individually but this answers the questions of how they cope together. Great story, great author!

Meet the Author

Doranna responded to all early injunctions to "put down that book/notebook and go outside to play" by climbing trees to read & write. Such quirkiness of spirit has led to an eclectic publishing journey, spanning genres and form to include mystery, SF/F, action-romance, paranormal, franchise, and a slew of essays and short stories.

But after all that, mostly she still prefers to hang around outside her New Mexico mountain home with the animals, riding dressage on her Lipizzan and training for performance sports with the dogs. She doesn't believe so much in mastering the beast within, but in channeling its power. For good or bad has yet to be decided...

    Kimmer and Rio are Back!

If you fell in love with them in Exception to the Rules and Beyond the Rules, you know what a delight you're in for. If you haven't read the others, they can easily be read out of order. Making the Rules is a fabulous romantic-suspense novel set in the Basque region of Spain. The action never stops, and sparks fly fast and furious as bullets between Kimmer and Rio.

    Finally!

This is the third book in Durgin's "Hunter Agency" series. (Well, actually the fourth, but "Survival Instinct" didn't feature Kimmer and Rio as this one does.) It's been a while since I read the first two Kimmer and Rio books ("Exception to the Rules" and "Beyond the Rules", and I've forgotten some of the details, but I enjoyed this anyway. So, I think this book can be read without having read those two - but if you have read them, some of the details in this one are more meaningful. The first two were published as Silhouette Bombshells, and are also available as NOOKbooks. This book was "in the pipe" when Silhouette cancelled the Bombshell line. (On a personal note, I was devastated when they did that, because I was quite looking forward to this book, as well as a couple of others. I'm glad it finally saw prin... er, eInk!)
