Overview

Grab your passport and join adventurer hairdresser Paul Barrington on the the maiden voyage of the SS CHUSAN for a world cruise including exotic Polynesia and the Far East. It is also is the first sea voyage for Paul having just completed service in the R.A.F. without his desire to travel the world satisfied when, unexpectedly, he received an invitation to join the newest cruise ship to travel across the world and be paid doing it. His dream had come true! So with equal parts lust and wanderlust and seeing himself as a latter day Marco Polo armed not with a sword perhaps, but a pair scissors, embarks on an often hilarious odyssey to exotic and not so exotic ports around the world. His adventures included assisting in the fate of a misguided stowaway prostitute, a close shave with one of the Kings Coldstream Guards, a bloody struggle with a 14' shark and a disastrous tidal wave. Fearful moments when face to face with an enraged armed Maharaja's aide and a scary kidnapping attempt in North Africa. Then, of course, were the many lonely widows aboard who were oh, so willing. Several adventures happened ashore included an encounter with Maori natives and some awkward moments in a Japanese bath house when it wasn't just Paul's temperature that was rising. Paul eventually breaks the cardinal rule and falls for beautiful fellow crew member, Joanna Carroll, which leads to severe complications as they conduct a torrid clandestine affair.

Meet the Author

Kenneth Pearce a/k/a Kenneth of London became a consultant and educator for several major airlines and product companies, including L'Oreal and Wella, while developing his U.K. and U.S.A. salons and academies. Styled for Universal Studios, T.V and the exotic for M.C.Hammer dancers and pioneered video education for beauty schools and colleges in U.S.A, Canada and the Far East where he often taught.
As a younger man, following a stint in the RAF, he satisfied his yearning to travel the oceans of the world by working as a stylist and shop manager aboard a variety of ships visiting many exotic and not so exotic ports. He even served on a Troop-ship and a delightful Banana Boat plying the West Indies where he was the guest of his swashbuckling idol Errol Flynn.
Kenneth's creativity for Air France earned him an invitation to join the US and French dignitaries at the pre-flight festivities in Washington DC before taking his coveted seat aboard the first Supersonic Concorde passenger flight to Paris. He was quoted upon arrival in Paris, "Hurtling through the upper atmosphere faster than a bullet while gazing down at our beautiful planet was a thrill of a lifetime!"
Making Waves, his novel, is dedicated to all fellow stylists who in good humour are committed to beautifying the world one-head-at-a-time!
