Hott Synopsis: Completely ready to take a much-needed break Josh descends on the cottage of an old friend who said he could vacation there. Obviously forgetting the prior arrangement the friend also loaned the cottage to Cassidy whose fiance just practically left her at the altar. With two horribly different views of what relaxation means Josh and Cassidy agree to reside together for the next few weeks — or until this tension eases. Hott Review: What I liked: This was a really sweet romance. It wasn’t too much too fast just something sweet to while away an afternoon at the beach or by the fire. What I didn’t like: I did have to pause a few times due to some of the British terminology. More… Grade: A Ages: 16+ Steam: Y/A

Making Waves by Nell Dixon is a short novella about a jilted bride to be who rediscovers love. Cassidy is nursing her wounds at a friend’s cottage after getting dumped just a week before her wedding. Unknown to Cassidy, her friend has also promised the cottage to another mutual friend – Cassidy’s handsome boss, Josh. We’re never really told whether this was a set up or an accident, but in any case, you can probably guess the outcome. My only criticism is that the book is too short. I didn’t realize until after I finished it that it was only a novella, but I could easily see where the story could have been developed much more. There really weren’t any surprises, but the romance sparkled and I like the author’s writing style. If you’re looking for a quick romantic read, this is for you.

Award-winning author Nell Dixon writes wonderfully warm contemporary fiction and this novella is a great addition to her range. This sweet romance set in a coastal town is the perfect read for when you don't have time to enjoy one of Ms. Dixon's full-length novels.

When a mix-up accidentally has a mutual friend loaning her beach front cottage to two friends at the same time, Cassidy and Josh have to figure out how to tolerate each other for the duration of their vacation. The problem is, Cassidy is there to recover from her broken engagement and wants nothing more than to be alone so she can wallow in the shambles that she thinks her life has become. Josh, on the other hand, is on his first vacation in a year and a half after working his tail off to get a new business up and running. He wants nothing more than to party it up and have a good time with his old friends. The author does a great job at describing the setting of a little coastal resort town, which made me wish I could visit the beach. She also does a great job describing, most especially, Cassidy's emotions as she deals with her broken engagement as the day of her canceled wedding arrives and passes. There isn't a lot of time for character development, but you manage to get a feel for the characters personalities even within the short pages of the story. The romance develops quickly, but in a believable way, as both characters evaluate their lives and themselves, coming to certain realizations. Making Waves is a very sweet, quick read. If you are looking for something to read that you can finish while waiting for an appointment or taking a break from something you should check this one out. It took me about an hour to read it and it was an enjoyable way to pass the time.
