Overview

A deluxe novelization of the Walt Disney Studios film Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.

This visually dazzling live action film explores the origins of one of the most iconic Disney villains: Maleficent, the infamous fairy who curses Princess Aurora in Disney's animated classic Sleeping Beauty. This "origin" story is told from Maleficent's perspective, intersecting with the classic in both familiar and unexpected ways.

The movie stars Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, and is directed by two-time Oscar-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland). The film co-stars Elle Fanning (Super 8) as the Princess Aurora, and features Sharlto Copley (District 9), Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), and Juno Temple (Atonement).

I really liked this book. I liked that it shows a different side to Maleficent and explains why she is the way she is. I really felt bad for her through the entire book. Your journey in the book begins when her parents pass away. Then she is cared for by the Faye people then she meets Stefan who ultimately betrays her. This is the reason for her hatred and her curse. She then meets Aurora for the first time and is instantly protective of her. Well I cant really say anymore because it will give away the story. All i can say that is that it is truly worth the read and I can not wait to watch the movie.

It reminds me of the musical Wicked. Why it does it because the movie (and the book) show that Maleficent wasnt so evil after all and then grew 2 love Aurora, just like Elphaba (aka the Wicked Whitch of the West) wasnt so wicked and was actually Glinda's friend. This was reviewed by Shayla Farwell.

Once upon a time in the land of the fairys, there was a fariy named Maleficent. She was not like the other fariys. (She looked like a girl/woman with horns on her head and very big (3-5 inches) feathery wings with horns on each top tip of her wings.) One day she met a orphan boy(Stephen) who took a jewal from a lake from Maleficent's world. Stephen and Maleficent became very good friends. (soon boyfriend & girlfriend.) On her sixteenth birthday Maleficent got a gift (a kiss) and a suprise (having her wings cut off.) She also met a crow and turned him into a huaman-ish thing. (He can turn into any- thing with a snap of Maleficent's finger.) Meanwhile, Stephen married and he became king of the land. And the queen had a baby girl and named her Aroura. (Beasty is her nickname.) Maleficent put a curse on Beasty and said "' No power on Earth can break this curse '" And soon Maleficent became fond of Beasty and tried to destroy the curse. She said ' True love kiss will break the spell ' Will it be Prince Phillp or will it be ... Maleficent? - Tigerpaws
