Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Mammals are just one of the animal classifications. This group is set apart by some characteristics such as having hair or fur, being warm-blooded, and providing milk for their babies. Read about the general features of mammals. Full-page, color illustrations are found throughout the book; they show some of the different types of mammals and describe how they are classified. There are labels to identify the animals in the illustrations. Learn about the different eating habits of the mammals. There is a page that has quick facts about the largest, smallest, fastest, and slowest animals of this group. In addition, the insets provide some information about mammals. A chart demonstrates how an animal is classified starting from the kingdom to the species. A glossary and index are provided in the back of the book. For additional reading and information about mammals, books, and the FactHound internet site are provided. For those who are studying animal classification, this book is one of six in the "Amazing Science: Animal Classification" series. The other books in the series present information in a similar format. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
