    A Book for Me!

It isn't perfect, as I don't agree with all of her assessments. Particularly the chapter on Ms. Independent seemed glossed over some people are just born that way, not the product of a career. BUT...If you are like me, you will enjoy this book. It was just what I was looking for, as someone who is incredibly independent but not versed in the how to be feminine stuff. 1 - I hate to read. This book was written for people like me. The chapters are all less than 5 pages, and at the end is a bulleted list of what you just learned. Great for reference or for someone who just wants quick advice for a date tonight! 2 - I wanted something easy to digest. This book tells it straight, erring politically incorrect to come across as a conversation with a friend. It was conversational, to the point, and, though it did seem slightly unorganized in the order of a couple of chapters and had a lot of typos, it was so much like someone I know just giving me advice, not like a pseudopyschiatrist. 3 - It is a great book for women who are over 25 and feel like they are hitting their head against a hard place. It is more about basics and empowerment, not prescriptive or plan oriented. It reminds you of the things that matter to men, being approachable and alluring instead of worrying about details. 4 - I wanted something that made me feel like dating was worth it. This book gave me a very empowering point of view. It reminds you that as a woman, no matter how pretty you are, you have what heterosexual men want. It reminds you of the biological roles that subconsciously want to be played by both sexes. It reminds you that being yourself and being a woman is the key. 5 - I'm a feminist and didn't want to be told that I had to act a certain way. This book is a nice balance between being yourself and giving cues. While I would have preferred that it didn't put men down quite so much 'in a playful way, but still', I was reminded of how being confident is attractive. I was reminded that there is nothing antifeminist about using what I have to get a man as long as I don't pretend to be something I'm not. I have been applying this book for the last few weeks, and while it isn't a magic pill, it does work. It's kind of like the diet and exercise approach of weight loss. The most effective way is to stop looking for some magic and get serious about doing it the real way. Smile, dress flatteringly, show some chest and leg, and get out there. Yeah!

Good Book... If you don't mind typos!

It is very obvious that this book was low-budget. There are so many typos! Even the back cover has a mistake! If you can overlook the mistakes, it has some great content.

    A classic dating/relationship guide.

Man Magnet is for the woman who not only wants to get out there and find a man--or men--but who also wants to know how to do it and do it well. Inside, I found out so much information that had, somehow and inexplictely, escaped me throughout the years. It's about being confident, sure, but it's also about opening yourself up to new expereices and not just zoning in on one guy and making that happen. It's well organzied and a must read.
